4th viral infection in 9 yo. Get her tested?

This is 4 th viral infection my dd has had this year! First was covid negative. A couple of weeks later similar symptoms and covid positive (in September). Had another cold shortly after but didn’t test but negative LFT and decided highly unlikely to be covid. Now yesterday sent home from school with cough, no temperature but says feels like she has a lump in her throat. Sore feet also but fine in herself. Could this now be omicron? She had a negative lateral flow but I have mum’s funeral next Thursday and dad needs help with stuff but don’t want to pass anything on as he is being tested for pancreatic cancer?

Yes, get her tested, but don't panic!
I have 3 children, they have brought home constant coughs, colds and all sorts of viruses home, they have been tested every time and they were not Covid. It is better to be safe than sorry.
The fact she is coughing, rules state she should be isolating and be getting tested.

I am sorry you are going through a hard time at the moment, I send you love Thanks

My kids get about 300 viral infections per winter 😂 but yes, in your circumstances I’d test her!

I would test as September was quite a while ago now so she could have it again. Results are coming back quickly now and at least you'll know either way. There's a good chance it'll be negative. There is lots going around.

Dd has had 3 bad coughs since September. The most recent one has been going on for a month. All her pcr tests were negative. She's now got covid, caught it off Dp. She's pretty much asymptomatic and has no new symptoms apart from slight tiredness. My point being her coughs between September and November were not covid, coughs are rife, half the kdis in my kids schools have non covid coughs. Now Dd has covid no new cough (just a lingering cough from last month!)

So sorry about your mum. You must be worried sick about your dad too.

I would absolutely get your DD tested. My son has a couple of classmates who just tested positive after having covid back in September (one poor lad has now tested positive FOUR times since last May, months apart each time!).

Fingers crossed and I hope the next couple of weeks go as well as they can for you all Flowers
