Paints and jigsaws and some simple games. Be prepared to allow a lot of tv.

mdh2020 · 18/12/2021 09:06

Sorry - cook with them

MonsterKidz · 18/12/2021 09:06

Some basic baking equipment
Paint, paper, some craft supplies
movies
Trampoline for garden if appropriate

Fill up your baking cupboard with easy things, cookie mixes etc, icing tubes, rocky road ingredients

Depends on your personality, as I can't stand messy play so would never opt for those options as the clean up doesn't justify the five minutes of use!

In first lockdown, my then 2yo was most happy standing on a chair at the sink washing up his toy plates or his trains with all the bubbles.

Mince pies are really easy to make.

We don't have sky tv so we purchased a months subscription to now tv for sky cinema for Christmas movies as we'd watched everything suitable on Netflix and prime! Nothing wrong with lazy movie days when covid hits the house and at Christmas!

But yes we've been isolating dd has been working kinetic sand every day and play doh.

Are you able to get an online shop - I know hard as Christmas week but Asda still has slots where I live. Maybe some baking ingredients or a gingerbread house.

Do you have a garden?

If you and the kids have no symptoms and negative tests id be going out for walks if you l've in a quiet area like us. The risk is minimal going out for Walks unless they actually test positive or have symptoms. Dp got covid last week and me and Dd were at that point negative. We went out to see Christmas lights every night. Now we have it and isolating.

Simple christmas crafts/ general
Easy games eg picture dominos or matching games or board games.
Puzzles
Books
Watching a movie on tv
Make them a den in their bedroom
Get toys out they havent used for a while.
Open the new toys gradually not all at once.
If you have to isolate and have a garden get them outside for fresh air and exercise.
If lockdown get them outside for fresh air and a walk or bike ride etc.
Dancing together in lounge.
Dont feel you have to fill every moment of the day with something for your dc to do.

Playdoh, paints, kinetic sand, biscuits and tube icing with sprinkles/smarties to decorate, colouring books and those magic painting books are great that you use water on, daytime bath with food colouring/bath bomb and toys in the bath. Good luck x

Loads of great suggestions already!

Some crafts from baker Ross? The ones that are self adhesive foam shapes and you make a knight/monster/dinosaur/car/princess magnet or bookmark etc. Easy and fun.

Those dinosaur eggs or "rocks" where you have to excavate the fossils/dinosaurs/gems out of them? It is messy, but it's only dust which brushes off/hoovers up.

DISNEY+ subscription?!

Aqua doodle mats are great.
Baker Ross craft kits. DS is 3 and we’ve done a few of their foam Christmas trees and wreaths. It’s all putting stickers and ribbon on them. Also they’re now on Amazon if you get desperate for a quick delivery!
Dress up sets - Amazon has masks and capes for superheroes. Or even getting out some old scarves/hats/shoes to dress up.
Keep any cardboard boxes for climbing in, drawing on etc.
If you’ve got spare ornaments, get a mini tree and let them keep redecorating it.
Cotton wool ball snowmen/Santa’s beards
Toilet/kitchen roll rockets
Make a wrapping paper ‘pocket’ for them to put their small toys in. DS loves pretending he’s wrapped his toys.
