I have had some covid like symptoms, so I have been off work for 2 days awaiting the results of a PCR test, which came back negative. I have (prior to this) been on a night out with someone who just last night got a positive PCR test - I was close to them, for example giving them a hug and a peck on the cheek, talking into their ear because the area was so loud. Is that defined as a close contact? Should I be isolating?

Are you in Scotland? If not, look up the rules on the government website. I don't think you have to isolate, just lateral flow test every day.

I am in Scotland.

Sounds like you've infected them ! But guess not if you have a -ve PCR. yes, hugging and kissing would be a close contact but test & protect should contact you if your friend tells them about you. It's a 10 day isolation I believe.

That is close contact but was that in the 48 hours before her symptoms/test?

Here is the scottish guidance, updated. www.nhsinform.scot/illnesses-and-conditions/infections-and-poisoning/coronavirus-covid-19/test-and-protect/coronavirus-covid-19-contact-tracing

They look st contact in the previous 2 days. Were you in contact in the 2 days before their symptoms started?

In Scotland non-household contacts can end isolation with a negative PCR if fully vaccinated. Its only household contacts that are advised to isolate

dementedpixie · 18/12/2021 08:28

I would maybe take a 2nd PCR test in case you tested too early 1st time

InkyPinkyParlezVous · 18/12/2021 08:28

My contact with them was 5 days before their symptoms and test.
