Mild COVID, then fever, Booster?

I had COVID mid November, very mild symptoms, and felt fit as a fiddle afterwards. Last week I caught a fever off my DC and still feel pretty dreadful and run down. It wasn't covid (I think) as tested negative on Lateral Flow. Not sure how accurate that was as you're not meant to test for 90 days after covid positive. Have my booster booked tomorrow and wonder if I should go ahead with it if I am feeling so run down from my recent illness. I know that the delay in having the booster after covid is to allow your body to recover from it, so should I let my body recover from my recent illness too? Thanks

Did you test your DC for their fever or did they have covid previously too?

If you have new symptoms within the 90 days you are supposed to test again. And isolate whilst waiting for results.

So you potentially have covid, potentially though perhaps unlikely, have Omicron.

The family should be isolating until/unless a negative PCR result.
And you should not attend for your booster tomorrow until/unless you get a negative result.

"I know that the delay in having the booster after covid is to allow your body to recover from it, so should I let my body recover from my recent illness too?"

How do you know this? It is not the usual reason for delaying the vaccine.

I was sick the week before. The guidance with our gp is if it is eg coughing or sneezing but you aren't feeling different to your general state then go for it (I took a pcr test and ended up waiting outside gps for result then running in with a negative!!) but if your general physical feeling is worse than usual, you're weaker or unsteadier than usual then cancel.

Thanks. Imfedup. The rules were previously that you had to wait a month after having covid to get your booster so you have time to recover I think.
Stayathomer - thank you that’s very helpful, I do feel washed out and still rough so wonder long whether I do cancel my booster later, problem is that I am meant to be working next week so won’t be able to have the booster til after Xmas if I do. Dilemmas!

My whole family had covid last month including DC but we are testing negative on LFT now.

You have to wait at least four weeks after being positive before having a jab.

That is not the reason to wait a month, and never has been.

Imfedupwithallofthis · 18/12/2021 13:48

The reason given us that you should be fully recovered from your infection before getting jabbed, in part to avoid confusion between symptoms of illness and side effects if illness.

May be check that I’m

If you've tested positive for Covid-19, you need to wait four weeks (28 days) from the day of your positive test to have a booster. This gap will help to separate any side effects of the vaccine from effects of your illness.
