Have postal PCR's changed?

Its been a while since we've done a postal one so I just wanted to double check before we go ahead and do it.

Is it correct that we no longer need to register test? And we can take now and post today (even if last collection is 6pm?)
Or should we do it later?

Also I always do DC nostrils only at the test centre (we've been at least 10 times Shock) and this is always fine or even suggested by the stafd . Will that be sufficient for postal test?

If you don't register it how will they know who's test it is?

TheVolturi · 17/12/2021 13:48

But yes nostrils are fine

user1471530109 · 17/12/2021 13:49

Unless they've changed in the last week, I had to register code from email etc. No idea about the nose, but they are the same tests that you get in a test centre.

Surely you have to register it?!

Crunchymum · 17/12/2021 13:53

Sorry its now already registered

Yes the ones we receive now are already registered.

It says Your details are linked to this test. Do not let anyone else take your test because their result will be registered as your result.

Crunchymum · 17/12/2021 13:56

So you don't have to scan any barcodes @Teaforme23

Just want to make sure before I do it and stick it in the postbox Grin

You do have to scan barcodes. I did one on Tuesday.

AD80 · 17/12/2021 13:58

We had to register ours last week! Must have literally changed in the last week! Our last postal tests were done last Friday.

Crunchymum · 17/12/2021 14:02

There is nothing in the instruction booklet about it? Other than taking a pic of barcode for tracking?

You don’t need to register them. I have just done one, arrived this morning and put in post so it goes back today. There is a sticker on the outer packaging saying no need to register as they are pre-registered and so you can’t have somebody else take the test as their results will be linked to you. If you are worried there is also a barcode sticker on the front of the instructions so you will have that to keep anyway.

Flaxmeadow · 17/12/2021 14:32

I did one this week and had to register it before doing the test. Either online or by phone

A separate issue is that the post and the laboratories are really busy ATM, so could be a while to get the results

intothedark · 17/12/2021 14:35

son did one tuesday he had to register his

ponygirlcurtis · 17/12/2021 14:36

I ordered one yesterday for DS, came today, didn't have to be registered. Said it should go into a priority postbox no later than an hour before last pickup. (Not sure why it's an hour before though.)

YetAnotherWalk · 17/12/2021 16:24

Oh mine wasn't like that this week!

SpringheelJack · 17/12/2021 17:37

Well I'm glad they're changing it! It pisses me off to an irrational degree to enter a bunch of personal details to order the bloody thing then have to register them all over again before posting it!

Ghostlyglow · 17/12/2021 19:01

I did one today and it said I had to register it

Bubblty · 17/12/2021 19:33

If its got that sticker on its a new one you don't register. I guess they ended up with so many un registered. You can do it whenever but it must be in the postbox an hour before last collection

Bubblty · 17/12/2021 19:34

Maybe old stock?

Really? Is that just the new ones? Why?

That's what my one said. I think it's in case the postperson collects early?
Bubblty · 17/12/2021 20:30

Or maybe they don't want a load of people with covid stood around the postbox when the postie turns up

RagzReturnedUnwrapped · 17/12/2021 21:21

That's always been the case, as sometimes the postie may be early (can't be everywhere at exactly the same time) so that way you test won't be sat there all night and the next day.
TheVolturi · 18/12/2021 07:35

That's amazing, way better.

FromTheAshes · 18/12/2021 12:55

This is a pain. I always keep one in stock so I can post it the day I order the new one which cuts a day out of the wait for the results.
