That is all. Let's hope the vaccines continue to break the link between cases and hospitalisation and death.

I’ve not been one to panic about covid but I’m finding myself getting increasingly anxious this time.

Northsoutheastwest76 · 16/12/2021 17:10

I have been out and about doing loads of stuff but I have avoided COVID up to now.
Starting to feel my plans for next week will be scuppered.

its taking its toll on us at work....2-3 people off every week but workload increasing

Metabigot · 16/12/2021 17:25

Boosters will take a while to a) get inside everyone who wants one -b) take effect.

We are well behind the virus

DrHildegardeLanstrom · 16/12/2021 17:29

That will be an underestimation due to many people doing LFTs rather than PCRs

justasking111 · 16/12/2021 17:43

Wales 2.5k, Scotland 5k there's a lot of cases in England, my aunt in London says it's bad there.

I wonder if it's a city problem, the sheer number of people

If they record it online, it's counted. Of course, possible to get a false negative.
DrHildegardeLanstrom · 16/12/2021 17:54

As far as I know the daily stats are lab confirmed (PCR) testing not lfts.

Normandy144 · 16/12/2021 17:56

What's the hospitalisations like? Surely that's the real measure? I can't get worked up if the majority of these are mild cases.

DrHildegardeLanstrom · 16/12/2021 17:57

Hospitalisations has a big time lag so we are not seeing the full Omicron impact

Ask in two weeks and we'll be able to tell you.
DrHildegardeLanstrom · 16/12/2021 17:59

But - yet again - it is a massive problem if all the hospital staff are off over the same time period with a 'mild' case. Or all the bin men. Or the supermarket and warehouse workers. Or the HGV drivers. Or the post men. Etc etc
