Should we travel?

Flights are booked to go to Ireland. DH thinks we should re-schedule flights, there's no need for essential travel, what if we get it when we are there and get stuck for 10 extra days (adults both boosted, but 2 kids under 6) etc.

We had to cancel at this late stage last year. Family at home will be so very disappointed if I pull out. Will miss seeing their only dgc, won't really understand.

I feel very torn and am unable to make a decision. Not sure what I've looking for - any words of advice really.

We're still planning on going to Ireland next week. We are going on the ferry which feels, maybe wrongly, safer.

We've booked all of our predepature tests and we have insurance in case one if us gets it over there or before we go

Personally I'd go. We are flying from Singapore back to the U.K. to see family and friends on Monday. I am VERY nervous about the logistics - compulsory hotel quarantine for anyone returning on the same flight as a positive case (hospital isolation if you test positive yourself) - but after 2.5 years we've decided it's worth it and ultimately, if we don't go now there's no way of predicting what will be happening in 3-6 months time.

In the same boat - due to fly the weekend to see husbands family, he has cancer so may be the last opportunity we get to see them all but obviously very worried about any repercussions due to covid.

I really want them to just cancel the flight so the decision is made for me, my husband is determined to go, I can’t exactly say no, me and the kids are staying here.

Heading to Ireland at the weekend via ferry, I thought it felt safer, have booked a cabin and will stay in there for the duration of the crossing. Tests booked this side only thing stopping us is if we test positive.

As others say don’t need to test to come back and if we catch it over there or on the way, the airbnb we are staying in is free for the few weeks after we leave so can extend our booking.
@backatschool what do you mean about hotel quarantine for anyone on same flight as a positive case? Is that in the U.K. or Singapore?
Sorry didn't mean to panic you, that's on the way back to Singapore from U.K.
