Have you or your friends had covid twice?

We are told that omicron can re-infect people who have had the delta/alpha variant before. If this has happened to you or to someone you know, when did you get infected the second time and how long was it from when the first infection happened?

Was wondering the same thing earlier? I had Covid in August, had my booster five mins ago (waiting in the car as I'm driving they won't let me go for another ten mins).

valerianroot · 15/12/2021 13:48

DH did but was just before the Omnicron (we all had it at Christmas last year) . I'm sure the rest of us did too but had negative tests and his was positive. Whatever it was, it wasn't much fun.

Bobholll · 15/12/2021 13:50

I’ve had covid twice. Alpha & Delta (I assume by the dominant variant when I caught it).. 10 months apart 😫 roll on Omicron 🙈😂

BHX3000 · 15/12/2021 13:53

My parents and younger siblings have had it three times. First time 6 months apart, then 12 months. This was before Omicron but I’m sure they’ll get that too Grin

Angel2702 · 15/12/2021 13:58

Kids in DD’s class had COVID in September and again last week. Assume Delta both times as rest of their family weren’t told to isolate.

worriedatthemoment · 15/12/2021 14:09

@Angel2702 wouldn't that be within the 90 days though that they say test can still show positive or just out

Fingerscrossed2022 · 15/12/2021 14:18

I had Covid in June 2020 and I have it again now, I think it is omicron this time.

Angel2702 · 15/12/2021 14:20

They were just past the 90 days and had new symptoms had been negative on LFT after last time until they had new symptoms then LFT were positive again, household members also positive. They retested on PCR and were positive.

greenweepingwillow · 15/12/2021 14:21

my 15 yr old dd has had it twice, Jan and July this year. She hasn't had Omicron...yet!

ExcaliburBaby · 15/12/2021 14:22

Someone I know had it in June and has just tested positive again.

guineapigs · 15/12/2021 14:23

I have dodged Wuhan, alpha and delta. Rest of the family got delta. At the moment Dh needs to lft because close contact. Let's see if he gets what's going around here. He had delta in July.

SirVixofVixHall · 15/12/2021 14:25

DH had probable Wuhan v early on, then Delta in August this year.

Porcupineintherough · 15/12/2021 14:27

Not omicron but I had the original COVID, then alpha 9 months later.

A friend of mine (the one who infected me in the first wave in fact) had the original and then delta recently, so 18 months later.

justasking111 · 15/12/2021 14:27

DS university had Wuhan before first lockdown, delta in may Omicron will be the hat trick he's double jabbed

ElinoristhenewEnid · 15/12/2021 14:50

None of my family have had any form of Covid yet.

No close friends have had it either - a few people from wider social circle have had it - say 6.
Personally know 1 person who has died from it.
Live in large town - I work in social care, family work - 1 in front line hospital, 1 in admin hospital (CEV) and 1 in police.
All triple jabbed.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 15/12/2021 14:56

My mum had Alpha in April 2020, I had Delta in August, she did not catch it from me despite spending the weekend together in her house (before I knew I had it, I found out a colleague I work closely with tested positive and then I subsequently tested positive).

No one I know has had it twice. A colleague of mine has Omicron currently but it's her first time being infected that she knows of.

nellly · 15/12/2021 15:33

Yes March last year I had it, there wasn't community testing back then but I took part in a research study via nhs and they confirmed antibodies.

Just tested positive again at beginning of November, had my jabs June and august.

First time was horrendous I was ill for weeks. Second time I barely would have noticed if it hadn't shown up on a lateral flow

TheVampiresWife · 15/12/2021 16:13

March 2020 and September this year.

First time was like a nasty flu which lasted a few days, then came back for round two about a week later. DH was very ill - at the time the GP was insisting it couldn't be covid because we hadn't been to China. But DD's girlfriend had just come back from Malaysia (where it was rife) and was also ill. DH was having trouble breathing and was off work for two weeks, unheard of for him. Also total loss of taste and smell and all the other classic symptoms. The antibiotics the GP prescribed (he said it was 'probably' a chest infection, even though he couldn't hear anything on his chest) did fuck all. In the end he just had to ride it out but he was ill for weeks.

September this year - absolutely asymptomatic, both of us.

Nillynally · 15/12/2021 16:14

I had it over Christmas last year and start of December this year. I've been jabbed once, was supposed to have second jab whilst isolating a second time.

AppleTree16 · 15/12/2021 16:16

This is currently me. Infected very early March 2020. Full vaccinated (booster due next week as under 40) and after two days of awful flu symptoms tested positive on PCR today. It’s just not a mild cold for me and we’ve really careful in the run up to Christmas.

Yellow85 · 15/12/2021 16:22

Yip, work colleague Aug 2021 and again now. So assume Delta and then Omicron.

Unvaccinated.

EllaPaella · 15/12/2021 16:27

Yes my sister has had two confirmed cases.

zobalina77 · 15/12/2021 16:28

My husband had it in July and then tested positive 106 days later in October. He's a teacher and both times he caught it there had been an outbreak in his school. He was really ill both times so I'm hoping he manages to avoid omicron for the time being as he needs a school holiday without being ill.

Whathefisgoingon · 15/12/2021 17:41

My niece had delta twice within a six month period.
