Can anyone help or point me in the right direction, i have family due to fly into the UK from Europe just before Christmas.
One of the party tested positive for covid a few days ago but they will be out of isolation by the time they are die to fly but uk rules state they must do a pcr test within 2 days of landing, but this will show positive wont it.
Not sure what they should do by way of this test.

Unable to see any thing for this situation on gov.uk

Anyone know /had experience of this?

Thank you Xmas Smile

If it will show positive then they just have to isolate for the 10 days.

Also, you have to do a lateral flow test not less than 48 hours before you get on the plane, so will that come up as positive too? Because they won't let you fly anyway if it does.

Flaxmeadow · 15/12/2021 03:50

What do you mean by 'a few days ago'?
What date was the test?

confusedbycovidrules · 15/12/2021 07:44

Tested positive on the 10th Dec. Die to fly 23rd.
Yep understand about the test in their home county on the way out, its the pcr test here, they aren't here for 10 days and a pcr can show positive for you to three months? (That's what i have read)

So does this mean no one can travel if they have had recently have recovered from covid? Xmas Shock

Same situation in reverse, so I can’t risk it, as it happens it’s taking me longer to recover so I am not well enough anyway, but no info anywhere like that wasn’t a likely possibility

ThisIsStartingToBoreMe · 15/12/2021 07:51

Ah ok so they can't come then because they have to self isolate for 10 days. Or they could stay for longer and then go home but personally I wouldn't risk it.

TomAllenWife · 15/12/2021 07:56

Are they able to get a recovery pass like we have in UK

my DSs was positive in sept and we went on holiday 3 weeks later. He tested negative then but still had recovery pass just in case

TomAllenWife · 15/12/2021 08:04

@Sonex Iin the uk it's on the nhs website, lasts for 90 days post covid I think

Bunny2021 · 15/12/2021 08:12

This was the advice posted on The Times at the weekend. Unfortunately they will need a PCR.

Not heard of a recovery pass, i will look into this.

Hopefully something can be arranged as they haven't seen their family for 2years.

Thank you for replying Xmas Grin

So does it just show up on your NHS app as a QR code with your covid pass vaccin QRs etc after a certain time if you register a positive test?

Or is it on the other NHS app?

Tinysnickers · 15/12/2021 10:48

We have the same problem. France for xmas, pcrs on return and myself and DS may still be positive.
Tbh if it's positive vut we have no symptoms I'd be very tempted to LF twice daily to be sure and stick two fingers up to their isolation. They have issued me a covid recovery pass which apparently counts for sweet FA. And the only reason we got covid was because of their humongous lab cockup which resulted in half the people in our town unknowingly running around with covid and infecting every kid in school. Angry

I'm also angry about the day 2 isolating business because we land on NYE into a regional airport with no tests available. No post/courier until 4th Jan so we may have to isolate until a result on 6th..DH has to work from the 4th. Angry

Tinysnickers · 15/12/2021 10:49

My recovery pass is on the NHS app. I have 4 barcodes, 2 vax, 1 booster, 1 recovery pass.

confusedbycovidrules · 15/12/2021 11:39

They have decided not to travel and will wait until the new year now.
