Booster and pregnant

I found out today that I’m pregnant. It’s a surprise and I haven’t told anyone yet, even DH. I have my booster booked for Thursday. Has anyone else had the booster in early pregnancy? I know pregnant women are being encouraged get the vaccine asap, but is it safe to have at any point?

I got my first vaccine unknowingly at 3 weeks pregnant. I am now 34 weeks and due booster next week. I would say the booster is essentially the same as the vaccine so I’d go for it, OP. It is deemed safe.

They gave me the booster at my last midwife appointment (12 weeks).

Octoblockisadick · 14/12/2021 20:11

I had my booster at 4+3, now 14 weeks. All was fine for me.
I actually felt fine after my booster, not even a sore arm which I was glad about as I had felt a bit rough after 1 and 2.

DSGR · 14/12/2021 20:12

Yes it’s safe. It’s the Pfizer or Moderna dose - already given to millions of people worldwide.
Please have a booster, Covid in pregnancy would be horrendous. Many pregnant women in intensive care with it

DSGR · 14/12/2021 20:13

Also, the jabs have already been given to millions of pregnant women

Thank you all. I am absolutely pro vaccine and no question over whether to get it, just wasn’t sure if it’s ok before 12 weeks.

This is the rcog advice on boosters. It doesn’t say anything about having it or not having it at any particular stage. I had my second dose at about 7 weeks - it happened to be administered by a midwife who said it was safe.

Sorry THIS is the rcog statement in boosters:

I got my second Pfizer when I was 4 weeks pregnant (unknown to me at the time). I'm 24 weeks now and all seems good with LO - all scans have looked great and he's wriggling around in there. I've got my booster booked for next week.

LG93 · 14/12/2021 21:27

I had my first at 5 weeks, 2nd and 14 and booster booked for 34 weeks. All tests/scans have been normal so I'd definitely get the booster when offered ☺️ congratulations!!

sageandbasil · 14/12/2021 21:41

I had my second vaccine In my TWW and my booster at 30 weeks. They're really encouraging of pregnant women to get it

Fagin99 · 18/12/2021 11:42

Yes I had my second pfizer when I was three weeks' pregnant (before I knew). I was ttc though so knew it was possible. I'm now 25 weeks and all scans, tests etc have been great. At the 20 week scan they said he/she was a "textbook baby" in terms of development! I just had my booster this morning. X

Sorry to be a Debbie downer but I’m just so unsure weather to have my booster. I will never forgive myself if I don’t and I can’t covid and something happens. But I also wouldn’t forgive my self if I had the booster and something happened to the baby. Whose to say that it won’t effect my baby’s development later in life? The vaccine just simply hasn’t been around long enough for them studies to have been done. Just so unsure!!

A vaccine cannot have long term effects on your babies development, it's just not possible in terms of how vaccines work. There's lots of info of the RCOG website on this.

The things that COVID infection can cause - like premature birth and other complications - absolutely can have long term impacts on child development, we know this already.

Read the link above Your baby (and you) are far more at risk if you're not vaccinated.
