Does anyone know how quickly you can get Omicron after delta?

I had covid in October and a booster so I'm wondering when I'm likely to be susceptible to omicron, does anyone know?
Thanks

I was watching the news earlier today. Can't remember if it was Sky or BBC but they were asking a panel of experts/scientists questions.
Apparently you can get Delta and Omicron one after the other but you can also get them at the same time. So in answer to your question you are susceptible to Omicron at any time.

FindingMeno · 14/12/2021 17:35

@notangelinajolie oh bugger.
I was hoping that wasn't the case.

Nodney · 14/12/2021 17:44

I wondered that too. Am just over delta (had two AZ) so can't get booster. Wouldn't like to catch omicron right now when i still have the palpitations and breathlessness from delta. Fed up

SummerHouse · 14/12/2021 17:47

Given a double jab plus booster is being lorded as the best way to protect yourself, surely having had delta would give extra protection? Hope so.

guineapigs · 14/12/2021 17:50

I wonder how much protection I have. I managed to avoid Wuhan, alpha and delta. Rest of the family got delta last summer but I didn't. It looks like omicron is the one that catches me.

I was wondering this too. I’ve recently had covid, and now waiting 28 days to have booster, as instructed. I was hoping to have some extra immunity!

kickupafuss · 14/12/2021 18:05

I was wondering this too. DD is out of self isolation after tomorrow and could go back to school for the last couple of days. Is it worth it? She's quite run down so could that make her more susceptible?

A relative had delta in october and positive again now. Not been vaccintaed through as not eligable

Nootkah · 14/12/2021 18:23

@Covidworries

Sorry to hear your relative has been poorly twice, but please help me understand how they're not eligible? Are they under 12? Or do you mean they have an underlying medical condition that means they can't have the vaccine? I thought everyone over 12 was eligible

Covidworries · 14/12/2021 18:37

They are under 12.
First time rest of houshold didnt get it. 2nd time its taken down rest of houshold all thise are vaccinated

littlepeas · 14/12/2021 18:41

FFS really? I have also just had covid (presumably delta) in late October. I've had 2 jabs (Pfizer) and booster is booked for early Jan. Interestingly, I am not supposed to test at the moment, due to recent infection, so I may not even know if I do have it....

Same here, on day 10 of Delta now and have had chest pain/palpitations since Wednesday Sad I'm resigned to catching it, but a bit concerned about the possibility of permanent damage.

You're not suppose to take a test within 90 days of a positive because of the likelihood of there being residual viral genetic material present that could be detected by qPCR. So is your relative really infected with Covid again or do they have a cold and a positive test result?
blueshiningsea · 14/12/2021 19:01

I was wondering same, tested pos with delta on 15 Nov, mild case, recovered, finished isolation and back to normal life, then this week have felt DREADFUL, did do a lateral flow which was negative (even though we aren’t meant to test within 90 days) but gues if next time I test it’s positive then I could have omicron- or not?! So confusing. Booked my booster for 2 Jan but brought it fwd to next week now to be on safe side

Charliealphatangorara · 14/12/2021 19:02

I also had it (presumably delta) in October as did the rest of my household. I'm the only one vaccinated as eldest only became eligible when infected and still waiting for the 3 months to be up before she can get her first dose. Youngest not allowed a jab at any time. Not good news to hear we (particularly my non vaxd kids) could catch omicron at any time.

Cocio · 14/12/2021 20:05

I’m in the same situation, been double vaxed and just had delta. How can someone double vaxed + delta have limited protection against omicron but someone double vaxed + booster have 70% protection? Doesn’t make sense to me.

Covidworries · 14/12/2021 22:15

@janinaduszejko

Highly unlikely to not be covid. Parents wfh and have very limited contact outside apart from food shops and child goes to school.
Had covid was ill, recovered and out of isolation so retirned to school. Parents tested at time and was negative and had no symptoms.
Child gets ill again, a few days later parents are ill too. All tested and all postive.
So how did parents get covid?
