Do vaccinated close contacts have to PCR, or just LF?

DH has Covid, PCR confirmed this today. Gov website seems to say I just need to LFT daily (have had 2 jabs, and booked for booster in 2 days), but have just had email from Track n Trace which is slightly ambiguously worded, but seems to be suggesting a PCR should be done.

Can anyone clarify?

Get a PCR. Even if you are meant to just get a LFT they aren't as reliable.

Personally I'd go with government guidance, especially if the email isn't clear.

Spoke to Test and Trace today (DD positive) and they said it was strongly advised for everyone in the household (whatever vaccination status) to get a PCR. Then LFT daily for 7 days if you are young/fully vaxxed and don't have to isolate.

I agree - the wording on the website is hopelessly ambiguous. I spent ages trying to work it out, and also work out if I count as fully vaccinated as I had my booster less then 14 days ago.

Dp was a close contact at work.

His pcr was negative and next day lft was positive just over a week ago.

As for me I did pcrs and lft's all last week and negative then a positive lft on Sunday so a week later than Dp.

Dd has had negative pcrs and today a positive lft today.

Ds's was picked up on pcr last week.

Pcrs are meant to the most reliable but now I'm not sure how reliable they are. Dd had a pcr 24 hours ago which was negative (came back 12 hours later). Now a positive lft.

I am sick of covid tests!

Thanks everyone. The gov website does say something about LFTs being highly effective in picking up asymptomatic infections. I think I'll just keep on with those for now.

When 2dc and I were close contacts, test n trace rang 3 times (once for each person) and they were clear we should go for a PCR. Which we did but like you say, if you've no symptoms that's what lateral flows are for.

Was that before or after the guidance changed after Boris's 8pm speech last Sunday?
