Welsh schools moved to online learning

All schools in my welsh county and surrounding welsh counties have moved to online learning for the last 3 days of term next week. Schools are open for vulnerable and key worker children. Really feels like this time last year all over again! Am really hoping for schools to remain open next term (I am a teacher). It would be horrendous if they close again. Are there any other early school closures any where else?

I'm in Wales and we are still in. We break up Friday though.

Which part of wales? Hoping our county does this

As far as I know, Flintshire, wrexham, Denbighshire and Anglesey have confirmed it. There are probably others but I’ve only heard about the ones in my area

I feel the same OP, I’m a teacher but have been promoted to key worker babysitter next week. I’m really cross, would much rather the school be open, I hate blended learning! 🤬

Noiooioooooo!

My kids school have pleaded with us not to use the key worker provision unless really needed. Really feels like we have gone back to this time last year! I am quite concerned about January. There are so many children who haven’t recovered from the last 2 lockdowns, another prolonged period off school would be so damaging.

Are you in YMI? I. Flintshire?

DrMadelineMaxwell · 14/12/2021 19:55

I'm Flintshire and we only heard this morning.

I am NOT looking forward to it and would prefer my class in normally rather than babysitting, even if we were due to finish very late IMO for Christmas.

Parents will assume we are all on a jolly, when in reality teaching in person in class to those who are in, as well as providing work for those at home, is a nightmare. And the days are longer because the school day is longer to account for any wraparound care hours that would have been made use of - but we teachers are expected to do it all rather than the after school club being on.

I just hope we are back in person in January! I cannot face this again.
