Booster question

I have a booster booked for next week. I will be 29 days away from catching covid. Is it supposed to be 28 days from the start, or the end of the ten days?
My husband has his booster booked 22 days after day 1. I know this is too soon, but he is considering getting it early regardless. He was quite poorly with delta but is almost better now.
What are the risks of getting a booster too soon?

If you google it states 28 days from positive test.

Your DH should get medical advice, it is unwise to go against stated medical advice without discussing with a doctor. Your dh will have to lie to the vaccinator, which isn't really on.

Especially if he is still ill!!!

As far as I can read, there are no risks as such.

It is more to ensure that side effects from the jab can be readily distinguished from any effects of covid, that is, you should be fully recovered from covid.

Your husband should reconsider having his booster if he is only 'almost better now'.

There is no great rush, you have both had a natural booster.

Sounds like I am good to go, but my husband should be rebooked. It’s frustrating because I think the chances of catching omicron in a public facing job are very high. He would be on day 21 at the point of the booster and I feel the risks of an early booster are quite possibly smaller than the risks of catching omicron without it.
Does the person giving you the booster ask if you have had a positive test when you get the jab?

Agree with @Imfedupwithallofthis, apart from the “natural booster” part - there’s no guarantee against reinfection with omicron.

@JanglyBeads I realise you can get reinfected with Omicron after a Delta infection. However, the booster currently offered is not Omicron specific either. As I understand it (not a scientist or medic!), the booster boosts your antibodies against covid generally. And an infection with Delta should also boost your antibodies against covid generally.

Yes, they ask if you've had a positive test within 28 days

Cookerhood · 14/12/2021 07:54

Having Covid is effectively a booster anyway so he will have extra protection.

worriedatthemoment · 14/12/2021 07:57

Im hoping having covid gives you some protection
My ds is 16 and my understanding is he can't have his second jab until 90 days after covid , unless I have that wrong or its changed ?
That takes him until january

In lreland its 5 months from having a positive test to having the booster. I had Covid and , while l am much better, l still have lingering lack of energy, weakness in my legs. I have been totally advised not to get the booster as it would be too big a hit ony system right now. It's ten weeks since my positive result. I feel in no way ready to have any fall out from a booster .
