Would you get the booster 6 weeks after a positive test?

My instinct is that my antibody levels are going to be really high now so the booster is probably not going to have much impact. But I am not a scientist so unsure if I am talking crap!

Would rather not take up a vaccine unnecessarily and think it is probably better to wait till January when my natural immunity starts to wane.

I just went to get my kids vaccinated and they boosted me. Asked about it and I am 29 days since positive

I'm 2 months post infection and just had my booster.
Do we know how effective post- Delta infection immunity is on omicron yet?

ViceLikeBlip · 12/12/2021 21:15

The official rule is 28 days. Same as you, I feel like I'll be better protected for longer if I delay the booster by a month or so. But actually, I wasn't at all unwell when I had covid last month. So for me, it's more about the inconvenience, so I just wanted to get the booster ASAP in case the rules change (like, in case you have to isolate as a close contact UNLESS you've had the booster etc) And amazingly I actually made this decision this morning when there were plenty of appts available for next week!

Yes I have done

PurpleDaisies · 12/12/2021 21:18

Yes
I’m assuming the people who wrote the official guidance knew what they were talking about

Why have they given longer time line for 12-15 year old after covid...

Yes, this too - what is the difference? Why can I have my booster after 28 days but my teenager has to wait 3 months for their first vaccine?

There’s a greater (tiny) risk of side effects in that age groups with a shorter dose interval/time since having covid. That’s the reason for the difference.

I had my booster exactly 28 days after testing positive. I also deliberated about whether to delay due to natural immunity but as Omicron was starting to emerge and there were questions about whether it might evade vaccination I decided to err on the side of safety.

You have get it done four weeks after, I'm five weeks after on Monday and am going to get in done next week. X

@PurpleDaisies thanks...
My DS missed out as had covid late Sept but looks like we can potentially do just before or after Christmas.

Interesting what other people are doing, I was planning to wait until around the 3 month mark.
