Sick for a month, but still negative?

About a month ago my daughter picked up a cold bug from nursery and passed it on to me. Whenever she's ill, I get ill. Stuffy nose, very mild coughing, etc. I felt sick like I had a cold, but not dreadful. I never took any medication aside from Sudafed. I developed sinusitis as I often do with a cold. Was on Sudafed for a week until it finally cleared. Then a day or so later developed a sore throat and a cough - daughter still coughing quite badly again. This lasted about a week for both of us, but her cough was much worse. Then again I felt better for a couple days, but a few days later had a sore throat again, slightly stuffy nose and now the past 3 days I've felt a little off at times during the day. Slightly nauseous, stuffy nose and still coughing up phlegm in the morning which seems to have lasted from the first time I was ill about a month ago.

I've LFT quite regularly throughout and have been negative each time. Never had corona either. Is it possible (I mean of course it's possible) - perhaps likely is a better word - for me just to have had a weakened immune system which resulted in me coming down with one cold after another, or could a potential coronavirus infection just not be picked up with my LFT's?

No one in my house has ever tested positive btw

You're supposed to PCR if you have a cough as it's a Covid symptom. Did you do one? You can't rely on LFTs due to their inaccuracy. It could just be a cold but PCR is supposed to be done if you have Covid symptoms.

I had Covid in August which presented like a cold, and then I had an actual cold last month where I had a cough and sore throat, I felt worse than I did with Covid! It's very random.

You should do a PCR if you've not done one already.

Same! I had covid in October and have a cold now. I feel much worse with the cold.

You should book a PCR with those symptoms as should your daughter to be sure whether it is Covid.

I think I’ve had this same thing.

I’ve never tested positive. But it’s taking a while to shift. Bad sinuses, terrible cough.

It says really clearly not to do lateral flow tests if you have symptoms! They are for finding asymptomatic cases. Book a PCR test!

No, not done a PCR test before. Everyone I've spoken to in person seemed to only go for a PCR if they had a positive LFT. Admittedly I've not kept up to speed with what the recommendations are. The rules seem to always be changing.

Nowhere has it been stated that you only get a PCR if you have a positive LfT ! Both you and your dd should have had PCR tests, several times by the sound of it. You could have been sending your dd into school with active Covid !
Covid often presents with cold symptoms. Get tested.

The rules have always been to get a PCR if you have a cough, temperature or loss of smell and taste. That's never changed.
