Booster tomorrow, negative PCR but DD positive

Desperate to get my booster. I’m 49, almost 50. Booked for tomorrow.

DD tested positive for Covid this morning. 8 or 9 cases in her class. Not omicron we think. None of them.

I PCR tested on Friday AM - negative. 2 x negative lateral flow today.

But feel a bit off. Nothing much. Just a bit run down. But end of term (teacher) for me and v knackered.

Do I postpone? Nothing else available until Thursday and if I’m positive I’ll have to wait 28 days. What would you do? Thanks.

I went for my booster yesterday. I was not allowed to have it as my.son currently has covid. I wasn't aware of this rule before i went.

Best to cancel. They will ask if you have been near a positive at appt. If you are already exposed you are likely to get it anyway. So booster will be too late to benefit and you risk ingecting the vaccine centre staff

@Mother40 ah, thank you. That pretty much makes up my mind. I thought they would only ask if I have had symptoms. That was what I was stressing about.

@Covidworries yes, I’m conscious of potentially affecting others. Best to cancel.

Thank you, both.

I had my booster this week. I wasn’t asked if I’d been near anybody who’d tested positive.
All I was asked was had I tested positive for covid in the last 28 days, did I have any covid symptoms on the day and did I feel well.

whitehorsesdonotlie · 11/12/2021 23:12

Sorry - that was one of the first questions they asked me this week! Hope your dc are ok and you can have the booster soon.

I had my booster last week. All other household members tested positive the week before but I didn't (PCR and LFT's negative and no symptoms). I explained this to the nurse to check if I could still have my booster and she advised that so long as I felt well and didn't have any symptoms then I could have my booster.
Booster done, no major side effects, no sign of COVID despite close contacts.

Thanks for your replies @R00tat00tt00t @whitehorsesdonotlie @Ottercave.

I cancelled it for today but rebooked for Wednesday. Feel absolutely fine now. I also did another PCR test this morning. If negative again, I’ll go along on Wednesday and hope they will do me!

At my booster they were asking everyone in the queue whether they had been in contact with anyone who'd tested positive within the last 10 (or maybe 14, I can't recall) days. So I think you did right to rearrange.

My DH had his booster while DS was home with COVID. It wasn't mentioned as an issue.

Best to check before you go..I was turned back on Friday as they asked if I live with anyone who tested positive in the last 14 days and I did have a positive case in the house

liveforsummer · 13/12/2021 04:27

Fwiw I don't think they'll let you have it on Wednesday either. As already said they will ask if anyone in the house currently has it. You probably need to wait until dc has finished their isolation. I know you say you don't want to wait the 28 days but it's too late now for the boaster to stop you catching it from dc if you're going to and there's a reason they don't give it to covid positive people so you really don't want to take the vaccine if your incubating covid. If you aren't then you'll be able to have it the following week.
