Do you think an outdoor Christmas light trail is ‘safe’?

Just that really…

I have anxiety but would also be vulnerable to COVID and going with my mum who is ECV. I’m double jabbed and my mum has had the booster.

Meant to be going to a light trail tonight which is obviously outside but I’m worried now with omicron being more contagious, do we think that means you can catch it outside? Hopefully we can hang back a bit on the trail if there are any crosses parts but it’s an hour away so would need to use the toilet probably.

I know no one can say for definite, but just wondered people’s thoughts?

Yes it's outside

Eeeeeps · 11/12/2021 15:32

*Crowded parts not crosses parts

Go without a second thought and enjoy yourself.

Scarby9 · 11/12/2021 15:34

Yes. Enjoy it!

XenoBitch · 11/12/2021 15:37

It is outside. Wear masks if that will help you feel a bit safer, and try to distance from other people. Have a nice time. It sounds lovely.

OwlBasket · 11/12/2021 15:42

Yes, it’d be good for you to go. About the safest sort of activity you could do TBH

Eeeeeps · 11/12/2021 15:54

Oh thank you so much everyone! I’ve been really looking forward to it so was hoping it’s not silly / reckless to go. Thank you!

I went to one last week. Wore a mask in the more busy areas. It was a really nice evening.
Go, wear a mask, take sanitizser and keep your distance.
If you have a choice of times then a slightly later slot would probably be less crowded. We found that by 6.30 it was much quieter.

gogohm · 11/12/2021 16:02

Go, wear masks, distance if you can, enjoy! The seasonal illnesses we all catch are very much in circulation (sitting here sneezing, it's just a cold confirmed by pcr) would you have been concerned going in 2019? Covid is potentially dangerous but so are colds, your mum is protected

Imdreamingofapeacefulxmas · 11/12/2021 16:04

Absolutely fine, probably one of the safest things you can do

Eeeeeps · 11/12/2021 16:46

Thank you 😊

I'm very cautious about covid and I'm going to one of these.

HopefulHetty · 11/12/2021 16:58

Enjoy it!

dollywoodlooksgood · 11/12/2021 16:59

Enjoy 😊.
I’m very very cautious about covid but I would go, for sure. Sounds lovely!

Eeeeeps · 11/12/2021 21:44

Thanks everyone! I went and had a nice time, but it was a lot more crowded than I expected (and lots of coughing!) so feeling a bit anxious now but did have a nice time.

Outdoors is very low risk.
Glad you enjoyed it together!

shouldistop · 11/12/2021 22:16

Cold air can make asthmatics cough so I wouldn't panic about that.

Opal4 · 11/12/2021 22:18

We went to a light trail this evening. My youngest has a wheezy cough, the cold seems to sets it off. He has had negative pcr and 4 negative lateral flows.

XenoBitch · 11/12/2021 22:49

@Eeeeeps

Lots of people cough this time of year. I am glad you had a nice time. I have seen light trail things advertised near me and they look so lovely.

We need to move away from this mindset of safe and not safe. The reality is that some things are more safe and some less. The more protective factors eg outdoors, not crowded etc the safer it will be. So in this case I would go but,as you have said., avoid crowded bits and be aware of how many people are around you.
