Should I get booster if my child tested positive but I’m testing negative?

I’ll ring the clinic up next week to check, but wondered if anyone else knew. And I’ve got time still as I’ll probably show as positive before Friday …

DS3 got a positive PCR from a test taken Thursday. My PCR is negative but taking daily LFTs and all negative. If by some miracle I’m still showing as positive come Friday, do I get my booster?

I’m going to spend hours on phone to get an official guideline on this aren’t I that I wondered if anyone else has been in this situation?

Thanks

You mean, still showing as negative? Yes, get your booster.

sheeplikessleep · 12/12/2021 18:35

Yes I’ve had PCR and also daily LfTs and all negative. I’ll keep testing, but wondered if there was any rule about not getting the booster if you live with someone who is isolating still.

Have you seen it anywhere to still go in this instance? Thanks

Some vaccine centres will turn you away due to being a close contact and some say they will give you the booster, so it really depends on the centre.

LostThePot · 12/12/2021 19:01

My friend was turned away from her booster when there was a positive case in her household.

Waterlemon · 12/12/2021 19:03

2 of my household had their boosters when I was positive, the vaccination centre said it was fine if they had done a lat flow test on the Same day

Bigfathairyones · 12/12/2021 19:03

It's likely you'd be turned away due to being in a household with a positive.

triceratopsatemyhat · 12/12/2021 19:07

Do a lateral flow before you go. That's all you can do really. We would proceed with vaccination in this circumstance.

This was me a week ago. DS had very clear positive LFT on Thursday night. Took him for a PCR Friday morning but had my booster booked for later that morning. I was negative on LFT.

I didn't mention the positive test and had my booster. Glad I did as I am still negative (have had 2 PCRs as well and now DS2 is positive) so I just would have wasted time if I'd cancelled on the off chance that I get infected

Thanks all, so a mixed bag and may or may not get turned away. Can but hope. Thanks for posting

How would they know if there is a positive case in the household. By your answer or does the computer system tell them there has been a positive pcr at the same address?

ImAVaccinator · 12/12/2021 21:04

We turned away two people in similar situations as we had a clinic of CEV people running at the time so sometimes it will be down to the individuals in charge at the time to weigh up the risk. Definitely best to try and speak to someone on the vaccination team if you can, although I know that can be very hard to do at times. With the latest Boris announcement we are going to be even busier which doesn't seem possible.

I was wondering the same.

Yes that feels a different situation.
Thanks for everyone’s thoughts.

That was in response to ImAVaccinator, posted without quoting.

DS3 is properly isolating and not mixing with us, food left outside his door etc. I’ll keep testing and try ringing up this week to ask.

Thanks all

Just to say I phoned 119 this morning. The person I spoke with checked with her supervisor and as long as I’m still testing negative and no symptoms, Im fine to get jabbed.
