The covid fog

Hi all
I’m on day 6 and guess it’s been a mild case - some aches and chills earlier, snotty and cough and a bit of a headache now. But the worse thing is the COVID fog. Both brain and body.
I feel totally detached from reality! I just wanted to ask if anyone else experienced this.
I feel like it might be exacerbated by the cabin fever and lack of fresh air - I’ve never stayed in this long in my life and am struggling.
Anyone have any tips for how to deal with the fog? Hopefully some of you know what I am talking about!

Following!

I know exactly what you are talking about OP. Day 7 here and also have brain fog. Been pretty rough up until now but very very slightly better today. But the brain fog is very evident.

Hopefully someone will come along soon with some words of wisdom!

Take it easy. Rest up plenty. Fresh air will help you get back your sense of time when you are lowed out again but dont push yourself physically for a bit. It passes within a few weeks for most people, maybe even quicker than that if you are lucky (and not in perimenopause).

I'm on day 5 and struggling. Constantly dizzy and like I can't focus. Everything is through a veil and feels very unreal like you say.

I have no tips, just solidarity!

I was like this yesterday! I even said to my dd how I didn't feel real.. very strange feeling! I'm still waiting on my PCR results my ds is positive.
Other than having this strange feeling I've had an upset stomach and felt dizzy with a headache, also have really puffy eyes.. looks like I haven't slept in a year!

I'm on day 14 now (IYKWIM).
I felt completely foggy still on day 9; on day 10 I was a bit brighter mentally & physically; on day 11, I was OK mentally but utterly exhausted; day 12, a bit better again. And then I woke up yesterday and am absolutely fine and ended up going for a 6 mile walk! Still feel fine today and have had a fairly busy day.
DD had it a few months ago and was similar although a couple of days ahead of me. So she was really ill until day 7 and then suddenly improved.

This is exactly me, I'm on day 8. Two negative tests, so in my head, I'm fine, can go out etc!
Just feel so tired and the brain fog is weird. Lost my phone charger yesterday and it was in the pan cupboard! 🙄
I'm hoping some fresh air today will help.

For now, OP. Rest up. Your body is fighting a nasty illness and you need to give it time to recover.

I had bad Covid fog (also compounded by menopause). The only thing that really helped was time. Took about 2-3 months to feel normal. When I went back to work I went back on a phased return. Worked mornings only for about 3 weeks because I only had focus and concentration for about 3-4 hours of work. Gradually I was able to scale up. You need to pace yourself and take it easy.

Totally agree. I had covid at end of October. Was very ill, but not ill enough for hospital IYKWIM. I'd say about 2 months to feel normal. I had to return to work full time immediately as I'm a primary teacher. Whenever I tried to read a story at the end of the day, the words would come out all wrong. On a different point, I still feel breathless after climbing stairs.

Found this thread by googling! Am on day 6 and feel so fuzzy headed. Am saying the wrong words and feel like I’m not in reality! It’s pretty scary! Really hope it clears soon!

SleepingDoglets · 27/01/2022 17:29

I’m day 14 and can feel myself slowly coming out of the fog.
I can’t remember most of last week, this week is a bit clearer.

I am day 7 and this is me. It started yesterday but a day off work, resting and pottering has helped. Hopefully it will pass soon. Agree being able to go out would help, I was always told by my mum and her mum before her that fresh air cures all! Bring on my release.
