When will boosters be given to 30-39s?

Any guesses?

DH has been almost 7 months since his original jabs and I believe that means they are basically useless?

How come he had it this early? His age group wasn’t vaccinated this long ago.
People who had their second jab 7m
ago would be ones in their late 40s and early 50s.

Youngatheart00 · 10/12/2021 22:44

I know!! No real reason he was but area was running ahead I think

I’ve been invited for mine already (38).

Flapjacker48 · 10/12/2021 23:10

My area is ahead. GP vaccination hub (SW London) doing 30s last and this weekend.

MojoJojo71 · 10/12/2021 23:16

I thought they had opened up boosters to all adults now? My 25 yo DS is getting his this weekend

Youngatheart00 · 10/12/2021 23:16

I’ll get him to contact our GP then. Seem strange they were so ahead on the first and second phase and not the third

I'm 49 and have mine tomorrow. Tried to book for 22 year old DS and it said no. SW England.

Youngatheart00 · 10/12/2021 23:19

I just can’t work this out. DH is basically unvaccinated now!

It’s worth checking out the criteria of the different walk in centres around you. I was in a similar situation and found a pharmacy vaccinating under 40s with a three month gap while many other centres were just doing over 40s. Good luck.

Shimmylikejoanholloway · 10/12/2021 23:54

I’m confused about this, can you just book or do you have to be invited?

Shimmylikejoanholloway · 10/12/2021 23:55

Also, is it really as good as unvaccinated after six months?!

RobinPenguins · 10/12/2021 23:58

I’m mid 30s and couldn’t book online yet, nor have I been contacted by GP, are some of the walk in centres doing under 40s now?

Tealightsandd · 11/12/2021 00:38

London will likely have more availability because of the much lower overall take up rate (and probably more need for the same reason). London's take-up is by some way the lowest in the UK.

With other early areas, I don't know. It seems a bit varied.

Hopefully 30-39s slots will soon open up across the UK.

LadyCatStark · 11/12/2021 00:51

I’m 35 and received an invitation to book mine at my doctors today from 7th Jan. DS (12) also received an invitation to book his 2nd jab which was a surprise and he’s also booked in for 7th Jan.

User378436 · 11/12/2021 05:42

I think that the previous jabs are more useless if you had AZ, most under 40s would have had Pfizer which still offers some protection.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 11/12/2021 06:05

The website only changed to allow those over 40 (but with less than 6 months months since 2nd jab) on Wednesday. I booked then and had it Thursday, no invitation. I believe the next age group will be in the next few days. Just keep checking gov.uk, the info box in yellow will update once the age drops. The are just rolling out the reduced time between vaccines that the government announced a couple of weeks ago, as he had his early he will likely just default to his age slot.

IgnoranceIsStrength · 11/12/2021 06:47

I hope soon..Im double vacced with az at 35. There was a centre offering to teachers locally early so I'm now at 6 months which apparently could be as low as 0% protection! Still only one more week surrounded by 100s of teenagers of whom lots have tested positive recently. Sure I'll be fine

speak2me · 11/12/2021 07:34

GP invited me a couple of days ago and I'm booked in for a week's time at the surgery. Originally had 1st and 2nd jabs at vaccination centre. I'm 36 & in SW.

littlepeas · 11/12/2021 08:02

It's 0% against symptomatic disease - I haven't seen any data about the protection against severe disease, which is the important bit.

Plenty of people have still caught earlier variants after being vaccinated (I did after 2x Pfizer - I'm also in my 30's). This has always been a possibility.

Healthy people in their 30's have always been low risk, even before vaccination. I hate how people are being made to feel afraid again.

Yamaya · 11/12/2021 08:04

Can you look for any walk in clinics in your area? I'm 37 and got mine a week ago at one.

rainbowandglitter · 11/12/2021 08:07

I'm in my 30s and had my second dose of AZ at the end of May. I tried to book a booster and it won't let me .

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 11/12/2021 08:40

The latest Zoe app video said there is no evidence of vaccine efficacy waning in under 55s before 6-7 months so not to panic if you can’t get a booster

RobinPenguins · 11/12/2021 16:49

Under 40s can now book online, I think it goes down to 30 now. Have booked mine for next week Smile

PrpleRain · 11/12/2021 16:58

Go to any walk in centre. They give boosters to everyone over 18. I just had mine today.

OnceuponaRainbow18 · 11/12/2021 17:00

34 and managed to book my booster for next week online, wasn’t invited but it let me book. I tried last week and it didn’t let me book. Had my second end of aug
