Whole School PCR testing

Has anyone else had this request?

Middle School emailed this week to ask that we all test our children within 24/36hrs. A PCR test not a LF.

They went back into bubbles on Monday because of high infections.

We've had regular PCR tests at work for months for all staff- government agency.

@BHX3000

We’ve used this company for 18 months now and it’s never been an issue. I’ve personally had inconclusive results myself and they’ve not automatically defaulted to a positive. Where I live you’re also allowed to ‘challenge’ a positive and get a second test if you want (at your own cost) so I guess I’d be doing that Grin

Sorry to hear about your isolation. I hope you’re now out of it, or close to.

Interesting! A colleague in the same situation did get an NHS PCR when she got her positive from work, and it was negative but she still had to isolate. And it means she can’t get her booster for 28 days. She’s not happy! I’m ok thanks, sometimes it’s not a bad thing having an unexpectedly quiet week. Freedom tomorrow.

There'll be a trigger number for a whole class to be tested, and a trigger number for the school. It's happened to my childrens classes a few times and school I work in once.

@Barbie222 FYI and anyone else interested: it said we had reached the threshold (think that was the word) which was either 5 positive cases per class or 10% of the class.

Yes we've had whole classes and also close contact information.

They've only closed one class at my sons for this and one in my own school. The rest have been "just get a pcr."

Primary

A whole key stage was asked to do it last week, which totalled 4 classes. It picked up a lot of asymptomatic cases.
