How long do you think you are actually contagious after the virus.

I know you have to isolate for 10 days, I am not dismissing that but realistically it's going to be less or more isn't it?! How would we know?!

Dp has covid. He's isolating for 10 days ending on the 15th. He felt rough for one day and is pretty much back to normal. I really cannot imagine that he would be contagious up until Wednesday, 9 days after his symptoms are gone.

He's quite happy to have ten days off feeling very much fine and normal after working all the way throughout the pandemic. He's been able to do some stuff around the house etc. No issues.

But with every other illness, we get back to normal when better or for sickness & diarrhoea its 48 hours after symptoms stop.

Not sure how long he was contagious before either. He was a close contact. He tested negative on a pcr just 36 hrs before his is any positive lft and then pcr. So in less than 48 hours he went from negative on both pcr and lft to strong positive on lft, confirmed by pcr.

I don't know, but guessing it's 10 days for a reason?

My LFT took a week to stop showing positive, so I'm going to guess I was contagious for a least a week after first testing positive with symptoms.

There’s diagrams of suspected infection online - like a bell curve - it peaks 2 days before symptoms and drops significantly about 5 days after. They must have that info from some scientific basis.

I’m currently on day 9 and have been very careful but had my DD all day alone today due to an inset day and have ditched the isolating/mask. My LTF is still positive but not as strong. Testing positive isn’t an indicator of how much live viruses you can transmit for infection because you can test positive for blinking ages - I think it detects the shed virus?

Won’t let me post the pic but it’s here

Thanks all. No point in this post really. Just curiosity ☺️
