What are the risks of having the booster if positive with Covid

So, I'm booked to have my booster today and I don't have Covid as far as I know - repeated LFTs negative. The reason I am asking is because I've been totally surrounded this week by people who have tested positive - I've been to two events where people have subsequently tested positive and I've been in close contact with both.

If I have the jab and it turns out I was incubating covid while I had it, is there any additional risk? (to me, I mean, I know there's a risk I will infect people at the vaccination centre...)

There won’t be a risk to you if you have covid and get the booster, but likely that the vaccine centre will ask you to come back another day when you are not a close contact. It was one of the first questions they ask before you enter the building.

Thanks. I am not officially ‘a close contact’ - what I mean is that I have been at two events where people have subsequently tested positive.

Absolutely not an expert but I have read that there isn’t a danger as such but you may not mount an ideal immune response to the vaccine if you currently have covid. It must have happened countless times because of asymptomatic infections and incubation periods.

There is no risk, you just won't be able to distinguish between side effects of the vaccine & Covid.

I've been wondering about this too. DS's school is HEAVING with Covid, but he has somehow not tested positive....yet. It is only a matter of time. And I have been using the tube, going to work (in a hospital), going to Christmas fairs etc.

I'm due for my booster today and I've just done a rapid antigen test (negative), so I'm going. If I wait for a time when I haven't been around Covid, I will never get my booster at all.

Do a test, ideally a PCR if you have time, before your appointment.

The risk isn't to you as such but just be considerate and don't take Covid into a busy vaccination centre, where there will likely be vulnerable people getting their jabs.

Thanks all!
