To cancel Harry Potter tour?

We’ve got tickets for this. Christmassy treat for the kids. Haven’t told them yet. I’ve always wanted to go but really don’t want the kids poorly for Christmas. We have a one year old too who has had a run of being ill lately. Stressed at the thought of taking her close to
London where I’m reading cases are high. Am I being silly?

I'm in Scotland so not sure on the rules but will people be wearing masks? If so I think I'd go.

We went in summer and it was very clean, easy to social distance Etc,

RosieProbert · 09/12/2021 22:43

I went in October
It wasn't packed. You have to wear a mask.
I dont think there's more risk than going to a large supermarket tbh.

Freddiefox · 09/12/2021 22:43

Are you going by train? As otherwise it’s not near London. I’d go, live your life, have fun and enjoy it. Wear a mask and try to keep a distance. Maybe skip the butterbeer as the queue was quite long .

The Harry Potter Tour is well outside of London. So that might put your fears at ease. It's in Watford, Hertfordshire.

We went a few months ago and it was really well organised, far fewer visitors allowed in at a time, plenty of space, sanitiser etc.

Will you get a refund if you cancel? It's a lot of money to lose.

But the be honest, I'd be thinking twice if it were me.

DockOTheBay · 09/12/2021 22:46

Its not really "near" London in that Covid can't jump from London to nearby places and you'll be there with people from all over the place, not just Londoners. You'll be required to wear masks, numbers will be limited.
If you cancel, could you get your money back or rebook later in the year. That would be a deciding factor for me as I wouldn't want to waste so much money.

NeedAHoliday2021 · 09/12/2021 22:46

We went to Harry Potter studios in August and honestly it felt really safe. At a time when hardly anyone was in a mask, they insisted and anyone not wearing one was provided with one. No mask no entry. It’s big so you can space out too. We were really impressed.

superram · 09/12/2021 22:49

You have to wear a mask snd it wasn’t at all crowded. You’ll be fine.

ZenNudist · 09/12/2021 22:51

You will be fine. The kids will love it. I'm doing all my Christmas treats as usual. Don't worry.

SpilltheTea · 09/12/2021 23:09

We went this week. It was very crowded so I doubt they're still restricting numbers, but everyone was wearing masks.

Was it Christmassy? Worth it? It’s a big push for us as we’ll be driving 4 hours to get there . They have said they’ll give us a gift voucher to rebook if we cancel

@Gazelda sorry bit of a sweeping statement but it’s nearer to London than we are. I realise I sound ridiculous. I can’t get a refund but we can get a voucher to rebook

It’s mega Christmassy and worth every penny. If you can afford a hotel afterwards book one - you will all be tired. Enjoy the day, take your time & talk to all the staff. They tell you brilliant stories of the films and are all huge HP nerds. It is as Covid safe as something like that can be.

Ohchristmastreeohchristmastree · 10/12/2021 06:46

I think I would go. I’d love to go at Christmas as I bet it’s even more magical. We went a few years ago (in Summer) and it was actually one of the best days of my life. One of my daughters spent the whole day pretending she was at Hogwarts and interacting with everything. The whole place is amazing and worth every penny. I promised we would go back one Christmas time.

However if you could cancel and go again in the summer I might be tempted. It would still be amazing, and you could relax a bit.

Mindymomo · 10/12/2021 06:57

My Son went last month with friends, they only spent about an hour there. He said it wasn’t too busy and it’s a big place, but most of it is inside so if they are offering you to go another time and you are anxious about going, cancel and go another time.

Remmy123 · 10/12/2021 06:58

Can I buy the tickets off you??

You shouid go!! Have fun.

FlorenceWintle · 10/12/2021 07:02

Between now and Xmas, we’re going to a Xmas market, ice skating, bowling and three parties. Go and live your life OP!

reallyagain · 10/12/2021 07:52

I would go - these special trips are magical memories for children, we can't deny them these forever, they've been through and missed enough

Tinseltrauma · 10/12/2021 07:56

Go and have fun! You will all love it, it's amazing.

SpringRainbow · 10/12/2021 08:00

I would still go, however I understand why you are thinking of not going.

However, Covid is never going away and really everyone has missed out on so much already.

Notonthestairs · 10/12/2021 08:02

We are local and have been there a few times over the years.

They are very well organised.

I think they've limited their ticket sales to accommodate distancing.

They do Christmas brilliantly.

Take sanitiser, masks, lots of money for the shop and have a great time.

sausagepastapot · 10/12/2021 08:04

Please go and live your life! I've got covid and I'm fine. It's worth the 'risk'- I think I got it at a panto last week and I don't care.

The panto was great!!

Charliesgotachocolatefactory · 10/12/2021 08:04

Only you know the level of risk you are prepared to take. As a family, we’re generally quite risk-averse about covid for a number of reasons, so knowing I could get gift vouchers to go again would make me cancel for now. I’d probably would have gone if it wasn’t two weeks before Christmas though. You have to do what you are comfortable with.

frozendaisy · 10/12/2021 08:04

We went recently it was brilliant looking to book again.

Do not cancel this over Covid.

Actually we would all like to live there.........

Notwithittoday · 10/12/2021 09:40

Mixed responses here. DH really wants to go. We’re going to make a final decision tonight. I just really don’t want us to have illness Christmas Day, I’ve got family coming and I really have not seen them much in the last two years. I’d be devastated if they couldn’t come because we had COVID in the house. My husband and I are triple jabbed but it’s the kids

We went in the summer. We felt relatively safe, masks were worn, plenty of sanitiser and cleaning of touch points by the staff. Once you've done the first bit the tour is at your own pace and we didn't have issue finding space from others. The only pinch point was at the mid-point food eatery, the que was long and busy so we passed that and ate at the other eatery by the main entrance which was much quieter. My daughter has health complications so we were naturally worried but it was all fine.
