7 months since my Vax but not eligible for a booster

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone else is in the same situation and if anyone knows how quickly I'm likely to be offered a booster.

I had my second jab 7 months ago at the beginning of may. At the time our local vaccination centre was offering the left over vaccinations to people in certain jobs.

I'm in my 20's so not eligible for a booster. Who knows when I may be eligible at this rate. I feel like they've been doing over 40's for weeks and weeks.

Obviously I'm out of sync with my age group, so I'm likely to be less and less protected. I unavoidably work with lots of people & key worker not able to work from home.

Will they offer boosters for everyone soon or will it roll out as to when I should have had my second ones? I could be waiting months.

I'm relatively low risk of dying etc but high risk of catching it.

My first two vax were AZ so could have either booster. I'd prefer the Moderna as I have allergies and the Pfizer wasn't recommended but at this stage I think I'd take whatever was offered over risking covid to CEV family etc.

Of course I'm testing regularly and following all the usual guidance.

I've posted something similar earlier, I'm 6 months post second dose so in a similar boat. I completely understand your concern and feel the same.

I was recommended by someone on that post (can't remember your @ if you're reading this, sorry!) to check out the Reddit "Get Jabbed". I'll be keeping an eye on it too and keeping my fingers crossed.

Soon. We've been getting jabbed here in London at over 18 for a while now, so it shouldn't be much longer until the rest of the UK catches up.

Incidentally, I had my first two after you, and I wasn't told to avoid Pfizer. I'm not sure you do need to avoid it, unless you are specifically allergic to something within that vaccine.

I did find the third much harder to bear than the first two though.

They have just started doing the over 40s in Scotland, I presume they are working down the age groups.

All adults will be offered a booster by end of January as long as that's three months after their 2nd jab. If they're rolling in age order I'd imagine 20+ will be eligible w/c 17th Jan latest. So you've only about a month to wait.

Offered a booster, not actually jabbed though. Offered meaning “given the opportunity to book” in this context, so will be dependant on appointment availability.

“The UK, Scottish and Welsh governments have said all over-18s will be offered a booster by the end of January - although some may not get the jab until later.” From:
www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-55045639.amp

This was the same with the initial roll out, the target to offer jabs by a certain date didn’t mean you’d have your appointment by then.

I am in London and unable to get my booster as I am under 40. Are you sure this is correct? I have tried to book online and unable to.
