Anyone have any clue when 30-39s will be able to go to walk-ins?

Tearing my hair out as very much past 6 months after my 2nd dose. Reasons I had my 1st dose earlier no longer apply sadly.

My friend in the town over has been invited for her booster early next week. Same age as me, had her 2nd dose 4 months ago. Meanwhile I got turned away at a walk-in today when I tried my luck. Several of my friends in bigger cities (such as London) have been able to go to walk-in centres too. Same circumstances as me, but they're eligible while I'm not.

Appreciate as a early 30s person that I'm not as high priority as others but the anxiety of it all is getting to me now. I hate my postcode right now.

Have a look on reddit ‘get jabbed’ - some walk ins allow under 40’s already and they will have local info

Travel to London and get it there

I think they will push it through as soon as they can. They were opening up new age groups almost weekly last time, weren't they?

That said, there was a long queue to get into book 40+ last night, and I really struggled to get an evening or weekend appointment- and work have explicitly told us we cant go in work hours. I was looking round me and round work to find something. So availability might come into it.

Why are you trying your luck just wait your turn.

Kittypillar · 09/12/2021 21:58

Thanks @Sandyjag, I'll keep an eye on there!

@RachelGreep87 we live a good few hours away from London now unfortunately. I'd like to try if possible, but with work + childcare, it would be difficult.

That’s funny, I’m under 40 and got a text from my gp yesterday on the exact six month anniversary of my second jab which allowed me to book my booster (I got it today) I just assumed it would be like that for everyone, must really vary depending on region.

nordica · 09/12/2021 22:06

Hopefully soon! It's been 5 months since my second one now. It's a bit annoying that someone just two years older but with a 3 month gap could now get theirs...

I'm actually in London but heard the queues for the few walk ins take hours and I really don't fancy catching covid in the queue!

Kittypillar · 09/12/2021 22:08

That's brilliant @Corneliusmurphy, so glad you managed to book in so quickly too. It does seem to vary so much, even between postcodes.

Apparently places have been told to not turn people away so fingers crossed those who are keen can get one. For some reason I chanced the online booking system and managed to book and had my jab yesterday. Less than 6 months and under 40

I'm in that category, have a high bmi, 3rd trimester of pregnancy and 5.5 months since second dose. I would rather like to have a booster but can't get an appointment. I'm actually starting to feel quite worried about the whole thing.
