Book booster or wait after just having Covid

I am eligible for my booster now (over 40, 5 months from 2nd jab) but I had covid 3 weeks ago so earliest I could book it is next Monday. However, my understanding is that Covid after vaccine effectively works as a booster. I am wondering if there is any particular advantage in having it now so soon after Covid. I’m also swayed by fact that I have only just recovered from covid and I had quite bad side effects from first jab. I don’t want to have it too soon if it may be more sensible to wait a month or two and then up my immunity then?

I know kids are told to wait 12 weeks after covid. Maybe do that

I've had covid recently (stopped isolation on 4th dec), and also eligible to book booster now (over 40 and 2nd jab was july). An sure I read somewhere (although can't remember where, poss gvt website) to wait at least 28 days after having covid before having a booster. So will book for after 2nd Jan (which is near the 6 months anyway). When I.looked earlier, I could only see appointments up to 30 Dec, so will try next week.

And am presuming I had delta as no obvious route of exposure to omicron, and first 2 vaccines were Oxford AZ, so who knows what immunity I may have against omicron!! Possibly little until get booster (prob will be pfizer)

Yes advice is 28 days for adults and 12 weeks for kids. My understanding is that this is to reduce risk of side effects. I don’t want to have it too soon (Ie immediately after 28 days) if it is going to increase risk of side effect and offer negligible increase in protection at that time.

Unless there is good reason why I should have it now, I think I’m minded to wait until mid to late jan which will be 2 months after getting Covid.

Interestingly, I have just seen on another thread that in Ireland they advise a 6 month break in between covid and booster as too much for body to take! Which does strengthen my initial inclination to wait a while.

I have decided to get it next week which will be a 2 month gap. Tbh I would like to leave it for12 weeks so may cancel yet.
