12-15s first jab

DS missed his jab in school in Oct because he had COVID. I've just booked an appointment for him to have his first jab, as it's now over 28 days since his + test.

However I'm hearing conflicting information about whether the gap between having Covid and getting the jab is longer for 12-15s. I have heard 12 weeks from a couple of sources, but this is only anecdotal and I can't find a current source online. If he has it, he'll be about 70 days.

I'm keen for him to have it because the best immunity is from natural + jab.

We’re in same situation. I’ve decided to wait till 12 weeks after and book for Jan. They were symptomless but I’m still going to be cautious and wait the 12 weeks.

I think you’re right, I’m sure I read it’s longer due to the myocarditis risk.

It has changed to 12 weeks to reduce the risk of myocarditis

www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/coronavirus-vaccine-for-children-aged-12-to-15/ says;

If your child has tested positive for COVID-19 and is not at high risk from COVID-19, they need to wait 12 weeks before they can have a COVID-19 vaccine.

This starts from the date they had symptoms, or the date of the positive test if they did not have symptoms

@dementedpixie thank you so much for the link. Looks like we'll be freeing up a slot for somebody else, and rebooking for after 27/12. Thank you!
