Is it dangerous?

You won't because if you have Covid you'll be isolating...

With all the vaccines given, the way covid is spreading and how many people have next to no symptoms with covid - it is inevitable this would have happened and I haven't heard anything serious about it yet. Obviously if you know you have covid, then re arrange but I'm sure many people have had it at the same time as covid without realising.

I assume not everyone knows they have covid immediately. If you were not symptomatic why would you test?

Interested to know more thoughts on this. Booster booked for tomorrow. Woke up this morning with sore throat, have had a stuffy nose for about 24hours. Negative LFT, no headache, fever, cough etc but ds now needs a PCR as close contact has tested positive. Not sure what to do,!

Same here! Booster booked for Friday but I’m concerned, LFT says negative but they can’t be relied on, not sure what to do either.
Dangermouse80 · 08/12/2021 20:23

If you feel unwell in any way then take a pcr. If you feel well LFT's are fine.

ruthietoothie · 08/12/2021 20:30

Just to say I had the booster with cold (after negative LFT) and then tested positive the day after. I must have had (or been about to get) covid when I had it. I have been ill with covid for almost three weeks now. I will never know but I'd guess my body reacted badly to having covid and the booster at the same time.

flimflammingo · 08/12/2021 20:31

Someone I know was told by the nurse not to have the booster when he had covid as it would be very dangerous. So he moved his appointment

WhathaveIdoneagain · 08/12/2021 22:52

I am in this situation now. Must have had Covid when I got the jab. Same For DH and DS. DS has already recovered.
DH and I are hopefully on the mend. It is a very heavy long cold for us. Really bad headaches, extreme tiredness which we thought were vaccine side effects.

Jenjen21 · 09/12/2021 15:51

I got the booster while unknowingly incubating covid. Felt crap after the booster then got cold symptoms 2 days later. Lft then pcr positive. Felt very rough, in bed 6 days and 3 weeks later still breathless with headaches. Prob would've been the same if I had covid at any other time, who knows!! Nothing bad happened apart from feeling shite!!

ruthietoothie · 09/12/2021 16:44

@Jenjen21 that sounds so similar to my experience. Im now three weeks in and still struggling mainly with fatigue and muscle pains and brain fog. Are you all better now? Like you nothing terrible happened to me because of getting the booster when I had covid but do wonder if it impacted on the severity of how virus hit me

Budapestdreams · 09/12/2021 16:49

I caught Covid days after my booster too. Still ill with fatigue and nausea 5 weeks later. I'll never know for sure, but I do wonder if my symptoms are lasting longer because I had then both at the same time. I can't find any research on it though.

How did that happen, if he had covid he wouldn't be at the booster place for his appointment anyway?

Are you sure he's telling you the truth, if a dangerous thing was going to happen everyone would have to take an lft before they went in or all the asymptomatic infected people would be dropping like flies

Jenjen21 · 09/12/2021 16:54

I'm 90% back to normal now. Had to take extra week off work due to fatigue and headaches. I'm just breathless now and again, even tho I wasn't breathless during covid infection! My gp said body was in an immune response to vax plus having the infection too, which probably made symptoms more extreme. I had the worst sinus pain for the 10 days, my teeth were sore with the pressure in my face-this and the fatigue /headaches were the worst! Surprised how bad I was tbh.. My 13year old had it too and spent 10 days shouting at the playstation, not a bother on him!!

luckylavender · 09/12/2021 17:24

@BitBroken - everyone should test regularly. It's the responsible thing to do.

Tryingtryingandtrying · 09/12/2021 17:33

If you've got a cold they say it's fine. So I guess if covid presents like a cold for you then it must be.

polkadotpixie · 09/12/2021 17:41

I unknowingly had COVID when I had my booster, symptoms started the next day and tested positive the day after that. Nothing happened, no side effects and COVID was very mild for me

Ineke · 09/12/2021 17:43

I just think that the only way forward is to take lateral flows every three days. If you have a cold, sore throat and other symptoms then you could and should get a pcr. to confirm one way or the other. If you have Covid confirmed you have to wait 28 days before you get your booster, making the most of your natural immune responses. Watch YouTube Dr John Campbell. Everything you need to know, he does a talk every day. Also, 9.15 every Saturday morning on BBC1 two excellent virologists answer questions clearly and in depth. All you need to know about everything to do with Covid from these three people. Highly Recommended.

ruthietoothie · 11/12/2021 10:36

@Jenjen21 glad to hear you're feeling better. Hope the breathlessness passes soon. I think what your gp said about the impact on your immune system of having the booster and covid at the same time makes really good sense. It's so tough and it's such a horrid horrid virus. Ugh!!!!

And agree with other posters about importance of regular testing. Probably best practice to take lateral flow before going for booster even if no symptoms. I wish I'd done that but had been testing every day and been negative...
