Has anyone used a U.K. pre-departure test abroad? Do I just upload the photo of the negative test?

I’m considering paying for and taking a pre-departure LFT with me to test myself before I fly back to the U.K. (less hassle than finding a testing centre).

How do they work? Do I just test myself and send the photo of the LFT to the testing company? Does the U.K. government definitely accept this method of certification?

Back in September this method was definitely accepted. Once I even travelled back on the same test I used for the outbound as I was only going for 48 hours.

That’s what I am intending to do in a couple of days but it would be great if someone else could confirm as rules keep changing!

And yes you just take a picture of the negative test with the reference next to it and send back to the test company which will email you a fit to fly certificate within a couple of hours max.

@XpressoMartini

Was it a simple case of taking 1 photo of the LFT? How do they know it’s even yours?! I can’t quite get my head around the fact that we can self-test for a certificate to get into the country! But if it’s acceptable it would be so much easier for me to do it this way.

It's certainly the case that one of the test providers advertised by Eurostar is advertising this type of test as a suitable pre-departure test for travel to the UK.
