A local secondary has switched to home learning because not enough teacher because of covid. My friends children go there and she has them home now. We have high levels of covid here but never did through the lockdowns. Is it happening to schools where you are?

No real issues at the kids' school (apart from a day off cos the boiler broke down and the photocopier's been bust for 3 days as the kids gleefully tell me). One teacher has been covered a fair bit - but for courses and meetings as has a lot of roles in the school (it's such a small school if you stand still long enough you'd end up with a few), the other hasn't had much other than normal PPA cover staff anyway.

Uni have a couple of staff off on long term sick that should have been doing sessions for my course - but it's a year where we have guest lecturers all over the shop so has just meant someone else has stepped in to cover it.

no meaningful learning is taking place as the staff who are in the classroom have no idea about the children

and..

Teaching has not been consistent and children’s progress is slow, I’d even go as far as saying home learning last year provided more consistency and better learning than this last term.

Apply to my poor class.

Even where classes are being taught by the teacher, that teacher is often losing non-contact time doing other cover - means the planning is a bit on the fly, so not as good as it would normally be.
