Christmas: would you go? Pregnant, relative has just tested positive

DH and I were due to spend Christmas with family who live 4-5 hours away from us. Unfortunately one relative (primary age child) has just tested positive. They are now in 10 days of isolation. Ordinarily this wouldn’t be too much of a big deal, and in theory, once relative was out of isolation we’d have travelled up as planned for Christmas. The major hitch is that I’m just entering the third trimester of a very high risk pregnancy, I’m taking a lot of medication to sustain the pregnancy, and we have been so, so careful and cautious. I WFH and quite literally only go to the supermarket. Relative will be out of isolation before Christmas, but I still feel very nervous about it. I’ve had one Pfizer jab, second one due in January. What would you do in my shoes?

Hopefully you will have a much better third trimester than I did. I do think that the long car journey we had to get up for Christmas exacerbated stuff. It’s just a long time to be sat there when you are that far along.

Good luck with the rest of the pregnancy anyway, I hope you are one of the glowing pregnant ladies !

I wouldn't go even without Covid. Just stay home and chill.

In your shoes, within a high risk pregnancy I would definitely be staying home.

Likely to be different relatives picking up Covid over the next week to ten days from the primary age child who could well be infectious when you go to visit for Xmas.

Better to stay safe and see them next year with your healthy baby.

We bought Portal cameras so we could be there virtually with CEV family last Xmas. Maybe invest in one for you and send one as a gift to the family that was hosting so you can take part in present opening on Xmas morning without the risk?
