I had covid 8 weeks ago. With travel tests being implemented again, what happens if people test +ve on PCR pre-departure home tests?? But they don’t actually have Covid? Because you can apparently continue to test +be for up to 180 days on a PCR test!?

You need to get a certificate of recovery - should be on the nhs app.
You also need to check if the country you are going to accepts these. NHS doesn’t issue certs for under-18s so you have to get those done privately.

Apparently you should do a LFT instead (suggested by NHS website) as these are less sensitive and unlikely to pick up a historic infection. You can also check ahead of your trip, I guess, by doing one.

In almost all cases you can't travel. Very few countries have accepted a certificate of recovery over a negative test and that's probably even less so now with the new variant concerns. An airline would also have to accept a certificate of recovery in order to fly. The UK definitely won't accept anything other than a negative test from Tuesday. I have first hand experience of trying to get someone back to the UK after a prolonged positive status and it was an absolute no earlier in the year when pre departure tests were in place. Best tip having had family members in this situation twice is use a nasal irrigator with saline twice a day and gargle with salt water plus change toothbrush after recovery to try and flush out any old lingering particles which could be picked up on a test.

We had covid a few weeks ago, we have the nhs proof of recovery pass on our nhs app. As of now, the country that we are travelling to in February still aceept the nhs proof of recovery pass, checked on our gov uk website and also the countries own government website.
