If the government came out tomorrow and says the new varient was killing the none vaccinated do you think the none vaccinated would go get the jabs.
And its not the government trying to trick people into getting it.

What do you think?

No. It would not make me go and get the jab. Not everyone that has not had it so far is doing so because they can't be assed,, or that they have bought into conspiracy theories.

Claudethecat · 05/12/2021 20:44

Some might, but I also think some are so deep in the conspiracy swamp that they wouldn't.

Sunshinegirl82 · 05/12/2021 20:45

The Government have said throughout that you are much more likely to die from COVID if you are not vaccinated, regardless of the variant. The data supports this.

If people haven't been persuaded to be vaccinated thus far I think they are unlikely to alter their view now.

Getbehindme · 05/12/2021 20:48

I was going to say, the news I'm reading is the majority in intensive care and dying are unvaccinated.

MrsSkylerWhite · 05/12/2021 20:51

If this were Ebola I have no doubt whatsoever that there would be 100% uptake.

Covid is far more nuanced, though. I’m all for vaccines, they’re a gift. If I were an healthy 20/30/40 year old with no memory of polio, etc., I may well feel differently.
That’s the problem. Because life is, for most, so safe now, lots of people don’t understand that until very recently it was quite precarious.

starrynight19 · 05/12/2021 20:51

No the evidence is already there those who haven’t been vaccinated won’t now.

Sadless · 05/12/2021 20:52

Someone asked me today and I don't believe they would. I think if they have made there minds ups nothing will change it. Till maybe they are on they death bed.

Not completely true. A colleague of mine had her first vaccination on Friday after a lot of discussion and anxiety.

The vast majority of them wont be on their death bed though.

There was a post on this board recently about getting a first jab. Thankfully, not a single person questioned them as to why they left it so late. Was good to see.

That is good to see. Everyone has their own personal reasons to have or not to have it and also for delaying it. I actually didn't have my first until Aug and had my second beginning of Nov. Delaying it was a good decision for me as currently have two DC and a DH with covid and so far I've remained negative......
Sadless · 05/12/2021 20:59

They might not be on the death bed if younger maybe but we all get old don't we. Then at some point like the flu jab which older people have every year it will kill them.

I doubt most of them would, because it's younger people who are more likely to be unvaccinated and as a cohort they're at lowest risk.
