Did I mix the PCR tests up?

DD started feeling unwell on Thursday evening with a temperature and feeling very tired. She tested positive on lft. On Friday, as a household we went to pcr tests. Rest of family have been negative on lft. PCR results have just come through, daughter is negative and DS is positive. I think I may have mixed up the tests, there were so many forms and different references. What should I do now? I've booked further PCRs for DD and DS tomorrow.

Impossible to say really. We did 4 as a family today, I opened one pack at a time and completed it then had the person hold their own test sample when it was done. We also wrote each name down with their code, as per the instructions. Did you do similar? If not then I guess you could have mixed them up? Or perhaps DD's test was't 'thorough' enough? Impossible to say really!

There isn't anything you would be able to do if your sons test has come back as positive as it'd been logged onto his medical record. He will need to isolate regardless of mistake or not. The next pcr result won't make any difference even if it shows negative as it cannot be reversed.

Good point!

Here, they take pictures of you and your test with bar code. No chance of mixing them up.

I laid the tests out on the dashboard according to who was sitting where in the car. Good point about DS medical record. I will take DD for a second PCR tomorrow. Thanks

This happened to us. We all ended up isolating as it wasn't clear who tested positive but has a second batch of PCRs as per health protection (we both work in healthcare in areas where it would cause upheaval if we tested positive) and all came back negative!
