Covid chaos in my house

Dc16 tested positive last weekend. He is fine and isolating. PCR just come back positive.

Me, had a very bad cold for 2 weeks and yesterday I tested positive. Work said I had to go in if had negative lateral flow tests, which I did until yesterday. Feeling really, really bad about this and hope not passed it on to anyone. I am mortified. I am double jabbed, due next week for booster. I am isolating.

DH has tested negative so far and had a negative PCR test emailed last night. |However this morning he has a fever, is coughing, and feels rough as a dog. His LFT is negative., He is on the sofa, away from me.

DC2 is negative so far. What am I supposed to do if we are all positive and not DC12? How can he get to school in a car with one of us?

Plus we don't have much food Hmm

I'd keep the negative child at home if he can't get to school independently.

Try a local supermarket for an online shop. Put in the special instructions isolating please leave on doorstep. I did this when dh was isolating twice this year due to surgery.

LegoPandemic · 04/12/2021 07:56

Firstly book an online supermarket shop with lots of easy food and lemsip etc.
I think you could drop DC off but stay in the car. It isn’t technically allowed but people are doing it I believe.
Hope you feel better soon.

Lifeispassingby · 04/12/2021 07:58

Speak to the school and see what they advise

Covidworries · 04/12/2021 07:58

Firstly your PCR is positive so that means you dont gonto work. Your DH needs to repeat PCR again now, and should isolate
I would PCR your DC2 again and see what result is. If negative and he starts with a new symptom test again. If household is isolating then you can tell school no way to get child in. Has all tests been confirmed as not omi varient until then i would also say to school unsure of varient.
Hope you all feel better soon

Order online shop to be delivered in bags and left outside. Bring in once they have gone back to van.
Lucazade, squashes, pain relief, soup, easy quick foods

Athomewiththehales89 · 04/12/2021 08:01

Do the coop two hour delivery, you can usually get on the day. Hope you all feel better soon!

Chaosinhousehold · 04/12/2021 08:20

My eldest, the one who caught it first, is saying he won't come out of his room in case he catches it of us again.

I take it that is not how it works:?

He should have some immunity, besides once his ten days is up he will be too busy taking the 12yr old to school and grabbing some bits from the shop to sit around chatting with you.

Chaosinhousehold · 04/12/2021 08:30

This is his day 7 in isolation

He should be ok assuming the varients you and he has is the same one.

A relative has just tested positive again 2 months after last infection. I have read this is quite common with omi but no data yet so could just be incidental

Tombero · 04/12/2021 08:33

We’ve just been through similar.

Youngest DC caught it first, the rest of us about 5 days later. Youngest DC came out of isolation but still couldn’t get to school as none of the rest of us could take him.

I didn’t want to ask anyone else to take him as I’d have packed his bag, got his clothes ready etc and was nervous it could be passed on that way still in the confined space of a car.

ifonly4 · 04/12/2021 08:34

Speak to the school, most are really supportive. Either way, if you're both positive it'll be illegal to leave the house and take DC to school.

As said before, look at online orders. I know you don't get a full variety with Iceland, but there are always slots around here - if you can come up with £40 of food, also delivery is free. If you can't get any items you really want (ie for covid) then I'm sure a friend, colleague, family member would drop a bag off on your doorstep.

Hope you all feel better soon.

Hope you feel better soon.

Can your 12 year old get a bus/taxi/walk to school as they are secondary school age?

Get an online shop or a friend/relative to drop off.

Porcupineintherough · 04/12/2021 08:50

Fir shopping can you ask a friend/relative or neighbour (or ask several - much easier to pick up a few bits for someone than do a whole supermarket shop). Then book supermarket delivery, bagged and to be left on doorstep.

Get your dh retested.

You can test positive for at least 3 months after having covid so it may just their previous covid infection showing up on the test.
Covidworries · 04/12/2021 09:09

Highly unlikely as wholehousehold are positive

Blupblup · 04/12/2021 09:17

We have just been through this too. Although in our case just the adults had it and the kids have avoided it. We arranged taxis and lifts for school runs, did an online shop and put in the notes that we were self isolating with covid. Ordered a load of easy ready meals so kids could feed us and them. We had aches and pains rather than coughs so had to order as much paracetamol as we could.

Remmy123 · 04/12/2021 10:59

Drop 12 year old off in your car but don't get out? Surely that's common sense?
