There isn't anything to panic about. If you're positive, you're positive. Life will be a bit inconvenient for a short time but that's it. Calm down.

Fishies · 02/12/2021 16:43

I've now tested positive and my husband is negative:(

What are you panicking about? It’s just a virus. Kids get it mildly. You might feel like shit for a couple weeks but then you’ll get better.

Zero anything to panic about. Unless you are vulnerable obviously. Be glad you’ve got it out the way before Christmas!

MissAmbrosia · 02/12/2021 16:45

Probably about getting kids to school etc? Hmm

Bobholll · 02/12/2021 16:45

Oh & your update, your husband can take your 5 year old school. No problem. Personally, I’d lateral flow them both daily given you & your daughter have it. That’s what we did when I had it & my kids went to school. Neither of my kids nor my husband caught it & we didn’t isolate from each other at all.

ChristmasCovid · 02/12/2021 17:34

If your husband is double vaccinated +14 days in the uk he can legally take your youngest to school.
Personally if it was in the house I would isolate as a family - but then we can work from home.

Zippy1510 · 02/12/2021 17:37

If you are vaccinated your symptoms aren’t likely to be severe.

ANameChangeAgain · 02/12/2021 17:38

We're all going to end up with it unless we've had it already. At least yours will be over by Christmas. Fingers crossed you aren't unwell and that it doesn't affect your taste buds for all that Bailey's and Christmas Pudding, that was the symptom that caused the most anguish in our home when we had it!

Submariner · 02/12/2021 17:42

No panic. I wouldn't send the 5 year old to school as they won't miss out much now, especially this close to Christmas. I would also get DH and 5 year old tested again in a couple of days as when we were in a household with someone who tested positive, it took a few days for it to show up on a PCR for everyone (I tested negative on an LFT the morning of my positive PCR test). We did all get it though, and felt a bit rough for 2 weeks, but that's it then, done and dusted. You'll be fine.

PrivateHall · 02/12/2021 17:58

We are all currently isolating due to one daughter testing positive. I personally really don't agree with siblings of positive cases attending school, so I am sticking to my guns. School were very happy with my decision (I am not in England so no stupid OFSTED pressures here regarding attendance). My work enforce isolation when a household member is positive so I have to stay at home anyway, DH happens to be on annual leave.

You are very lucky that you are both well, so really nothing to panic about here. Take care Flowers

Tryingtryingandtrying · 02/12/2021 20:13

She'll probably have a runny nose, you wouldn't have registered it without the test.

labrathopefullynot · 02/12/2021 20:51

praying your DD is ok xx

Strangeways19 · 02/12/2021 20:56

Don't worry if you can help it, my daughter got it a few months ago, we just sprayed her down and shut her in her room for a week or so, made her spray things down when she was around the house (she's 20, for those who think we're locking children in rooms!), we didn't catch it from her even though we were in the same house, she had symptoms too.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 02/12/2021 20:59

Why are you so panicked?

Negative parent drops the negative child at school and collects them. If he cannot do it, you drive her and let her get out at the school and walk in.

Get some calpol in for the positive child.

It will pass.

Fishies · 02/12/2021 22:09

His 5,he has sen issues , I don't drive there's no way he will be walking. My husband has no idea what to do yet whether work will let him take time 9ff as he starts work at 5am and finishes at 4pm

If negative parent can’t get child to and from school then child doesn’t go, simple as

Your husband could take a weeks emergency parental leave. It's usually unpaid, but would mean he can do school run and be around to get what's needed as you cant get out.
