Optimum time for booster, after 2x vacc and recent Covid?

I know I can have my booster as I had Covid 2 months ago, had NHS invite email for the booster. I'm just wondering whether there's any data about the optimum or most strategic time to get the booster, to get maximum benefit of immunity for longest. I've put it off for a few weeks, as I'm still feeling a little bit ill with a cough and weird Covid-head feeling. But this is genuinely just curiosity not anxiety, I'm definitely planning to get the booster next week or so.

I am wondering the same.

Me too. I have covid now, can have booster when a month has passed apparently but wondering if its worth waiting a bit longer as am thinking I'll have some natural protection for a while?

I heard a doctor talking about this recently. They said in more ‘normal time’ to wait, but now get it ASAP !

We had covid beginning of the month, before the new variant we were thinking of having it done in the new year. However, we have now booked to have on 16th December, earliest we could have.

I had:

2xAZ (second at end of May)
Caught covid October. Ill like a bastard.
Getting booster Mid Dec.

I think you should prob try to book. Lots of people are trying to book and it can be a bit difficult. You can get a date a bit in advance, like I did for mid Dec.

wolfstarling · 01/12/2021 23:28

I was thinking 12 weeks but that would be mid Jan so I don't . I keep getting texts from the GP as I think it's 28 days after infection now.

oopsinamechangedagain2021 · 01/12/2021 23:34

I thought you were supposed to wait 12 weeks after infection (presumably the day you tested positive) until having another jab, whether it's a first, second or third jab. Can't remember where I read that now,

I'm in a similar position. I have covid now and am thinking about leaving my booster for a few months so I actually get some benefit from it when my natural immunity wanes.

Does anyone know if covid passports will expire if you're eligible for a booster but delay having one?
