What's a covid infection like now after boosters?

I know everyone's experiences will be different. Myself and my mom had boosters a few weeks ago.

Just wondering now, if I was to get covid, what will it be like?

I am experiencing a possible exposure now in work with a child showing some symptoms - nasal congestion. Waiting on pcr results.
I am going to presume it's positive but I hope not. I was due to go to an event at the weekend. Its an online streaming party. I was looking forward to it so much. I have food and drinks in and firewood ordered and I was going to make a fire and have fun. If I'm a close contact, I will have to avoid my family and isolate in my room.

Only my own experience -

I had my booster and the following week I was away on holiday. Back at work last Monday, so 2 weeks post booster. Sn child had what parents presumed was a cold since the previous Friday (non verbal so can't tell us of headache, sore throat etc) Untested as it's quite an ordeal to do a test and quite traumatic for the child. Close contact necessary for teeth cleaning, bathing etc. School closed on Weds due to staff having pcr's. Dad wakes up feeling rough same day so goes for pcr and decides to pcr child too. Both positive - then 2 other children and Mum both positive over the next couple of days.

Myself and grandparents, (who had provided childcare whilst I was away and have also had the booster jab) have done daily lft's and also had one pcr each. All negative and no symptoms. So keep your fingers crossed, you may be ok.

Thank you so much for your reply. I hope you and your family are doing well now.

There's a SNs child here as well. If this turns out to be positive, the isolation is going to be hard with the sn child. Then there's dealing with the possibility of an infection. Hopefully we will get the all clear.

I'm genuinely unclear - sorry. You're saying if you test positive you'll have to miss an online party which you were going to attend in your own garden?

Apologies if I'm getting the wrong end of the stick.

HesterShaw1 · 01/12/2021 18:07

And you're basing this on having been in contact with a child with a blocked nose?

BlondieD · 01/12/2021 18:24

The party is not in my garden. It's indoors but I don't want to put my family at risk if I come down with symptoms.

I suppose tomorrow will tell more with pcr results.

Ah right, sorry, skim read the word firewood.

If you do want to isolate, can you not join in the online merriment from your room?

BlondieD · 01/12/2021 19:30

I ordered for firewood for the open fire in the living room. The party will be small in our living room but it will be streamed to the big screen in the living room.

It will be so disappointing if this turns out to be a positive because I'm looking forward to the event. The event is a wedding and it's so cool. It's a small wedding with a friend who's getting married but there's a lot of work gone into live streaming the whole entire event from ceremony to reception. So far the plan was home parties held on 3 different continents for the people who can't be there. We are supposed to take pictures and a scrapbook will eventually be compiled for the pandemic wedding.

I still don't understand why you can't attend something in your own home, unless there's something you've not said Confused. Surely this is exactly the scenario they envisaged when they planned to live stream the wedding?

Were you planning on staying in your room for 10 days and not seeing anyone else who lives with you? Wouldn't this be really hard on your child/ren?

Of course this is entirely theoretical at this point, because you say you have only been near a child with a blocked nose.

When I caught Covid over the summer, I had a family member and her kids staying with me. My house is small so there was no way I could isolate, but none of the others caught it. I'm not saying this would be the case for you too of course, but missing an online event planned for this kind of thing would surely be massive overkill?

I mean fair enough, don't have any additional people besides your immediate family there.
