Did anyone else's covid start off as a cold or sinus?

My partner (although I don't know for how much longer) has a slight issue with a drip down his nose. It's more sinus. He said it feels like the start of a cold. There's no typical symptoms of covid like a cough or fever. He has no intention of testing either antigen or pcr and isolating. This wasn't the first time he did it either. He was sick in October and he moved about as normal without testing. Thankfully that ended up not to be covid but it was still somewhat of an anxious period for a week or two for me.

Here he is developing symptoms yet again and he has decided to self diagnose a cold without a test. I like to suggest following public health guidelines that he doesn't want to follow.

Oh my god, if this turns out to be covida dn he passes it around to all and sundry, I'm done with him for sure.

Very common for Delta, I believe, but I think you know that.

Libmama · 01/12/2021 12:28

I have covid now. My only symptom is a runny/blocked nose

littlepeas · 01/12/2021 12:32

My only symptoms of note were a bit of a sinus headache and a few bouts of sneezing. I did lose my taste and smell a few days in, but I didn't suffer at all and probably wouldn't have even noticed if we didn't already have covid in the house.

ComeAllYeFaithful · 01/12/2021 12:33

My DC started with a sore throat, snotty nose and then the cough started a few days later. Thought it was just a cold until tested positive.

If he didn't test in Oct, you don't know if he had it then or not, same as you won't know now.

I couldn't be with someone so thick & so selfish.

spiderlight · 01/12/2021 12:36

Yes, mine was almost entirely sinus pain, earache and headache. I lostmy taste and smell about ten days in and had a bit of a cough in the second and third weeks after my positive PCR, but it was more like a head-cold than anything else.

November Dark nights

I had an exposure with whatever dose he had back in October. About 5 days after my exposure I felt an increased thirst and a phelym at the back of the throat. This is always an early sign for me of a cold or a dose. The next day I had some slight symptoms that were more pronounced like sore throat and earache.

I went for a pcr and it came back negative for covid. My exposure came from him back in October and I presume it was the same dose that he had and It wasn't covid for me. I presume it turned out it was covid for him. Imo he got lucky that time that it wasn't covid but she still had symptoms and refused to follow the public health advice.

Mine felt like the start of a cold then I lost my taste , felt vaguely rough for 2 days then that was it . I was that well during my week off work I did lots of decorating, I was very lucky

SilverGlassHare · 01/12/2021 12:48

Yeah that's how my started. Well, I had a sore throat too actually.

Cuwins · 01/12/2021 12:49

Sinus issues have been the main symptom of a lot of recent cases at my work

Bumpsadaisie · 01/12/2021 12:51

Oh yes.

Massive sinus headaches and blockage plus an absurd degree of sneezing!

That's how it started.

BlondieD · 01/12/2021 12:51

I'm fucking fuming that he decided to meet me today and not tell me that he has the start of a cold until I was with him. He has no right to spread whatever dose he has about the place. Its disgusting. What if his symptoms worsen and develop more into covid symptoms. He thought nothing about possibly exposing me and putting me out for a few weeks.

If he gives me covid for Christmas, I'm done with him. It shows selfishness and greed. I never would have done what he did.

Mine started as a cold and has largely remained a normal cold, but I've now lost my sense of taste. But I'd say I had 3 days of cold symptoms before that happened.

Skysblue · 01/12/2021 13:01

Yep, I know 4 people who had covid and in all cases they thought it was a cold at first.

What’s so hard about doing a test?! Dab nose, pop in goo, wait 15 mins, then yoh know if you’re potentially killing the vulnerable who pass near you. It isn’t hard. Teachers do it twice a week.

Tell him to stop being so pathetic because (a) it’s his moral and legal duty to help protect others and (b) it is very unsexy when someone can’t do something so simple and you are finding it very unattractive.

My son was positive at the weekend only symptom is a headache. My daughter is positive today (had negative PCR Sunday) she has high temp and bit of a cough. The rest of us have had negative PCRs and lat flows but just know we will test positive in next few days. I feel really achy bad headache sinus pain and strangely hay fever type symptoms. Can't stop sneezing itchy mouth and throat plus a mouthful of ulcers

Charliealphatangorara · 01/12/2021 13:04

Yes it started as a cold for myself and my family members who caught it.

BlondieD · 01/12/2021 13:30

My partner works in a public facing job in a bar. So he's more at risk of contracting covid and here he is with early symptoms and he still won't consider covid as a possibility. He probably won't consider covid til he has more symptoms and more serious symptoms m. He would have to be in bed with fever, aches and sick before he considers covid but at that stage it will be well and truly passed on.
