Has anyone seen anything about nee rules for CEV??

OP posts:
Workinghardeveryday · 30/11/2021 13:50

No, only that we will get a forth booster....

Bobholll · 30/11/2021 13:51

Clinically extremely vulnerable .. not critically.

There are no new rules. You will get a 4th jab.

Topseyt · 30/11/2021 15:21

It is clinically extremely vulnerable. No rule change as far as I am aware. Some seem to be saying that there may be a fourth booster offered, although I haven’t seen anything on that yet. I’ve not long had my third.

I am CEV. Another booster jab in the near future will be the only rule or guidance change I will follow.

Egghead68 · 30/11/2021 15:22

There are none.

Where are people hearing about a fourth jab?

It’s clinically extremely vulnerable.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 30/11/2021 15:24

It's people who are immunosuppressed that were supposed to be getting a 3rd primary dose plus booster.

Sahgah · 30/11/2021 15:25

If you meet certain criteria such as being immunosuppressed on certain medications etc then you can have a 3rd jab before 6 months and then a booster 6months after the third dose. This has been the case since September.

That's not new!!

We had a third primary, and are due a booster on top of that, at the regular 6 month interval.

If they mean another jab in addition to the 3-part primary course plus 6month booster - making it five jabs for the 500,000 most vulnerable, then they should say so.

If they mean 4 total, they are re-announcing what they announced as policy back at the start of September.

If they mean a 4th jab for all CEV (in addition to those in the 500,000) then they need to be clearer. And they need to explain the situation for the 500,000 properly.

The roll-out of third primaries was woefully mishandled. This seems to be going the same way.

I haven't seen anything about whether the 500,000 or all CEV will be recalled to shielding

Mickarooni · 30/11/2021 16:41

@nether

They’ve announced the booster for the 0.5m who had a third primary will be 3 months after the last primary jab instead of 6 months.

Mickarooni · 30/11/2021 16:42

Only for people who are considered immune compromised or immune suppressed, it’s not the entire CEV group.
PastMyBestBeforeDate · 30/11/2021 16:46

Unless my treatment team change their advice it's not going to be any less than 6 months for me no matter what Johnson says.

RachC2021 · 30/11/2021 16:50

@nether

The September announcement was for the highly immunocompromised to get a third primary dose, with the expectation of a booster later on. The booster was not confirmed then. The booster was only confirmed yesterday. So it’s 4 jabs total, fit the very small number of people who qualify.

LockdownCheeseToastie · 30/11/2021 16:55

We’ve been thrown under the bus again- carry on going to work despite the current high numbers. Not even advised to wfh (not that I can but many are able). Dd got her second jab at a walk in a few weeks ago after a huge fight (GP not interested in trying to book it, couldn’t do it online for under 16s). I’d like to know if the booster for those who’ve had three primary doses is 3 months or 6 mo the later as my third was nearly 3 months ago.

maggiso · 30/11/2021 17:08

I thought I heard at least 3 months from 3rd primary to fourth- but I may have heard wrong! I can’t find anything on line yet.

The September announcement was for a third primary

There was no notification that this group was ineligible for a booster jab, which falls due at the regular point after completion of the primary course.

No, it wasn’t. People eligible for the 3rd primary have always known we’d be eligible for a booster too. Or if they didn’t know, they should have been told!

Mickarooni · 30/11/2021 18:06

www.gov.uk/government/publications/uk-vaccine-response-to-the-omicron-variant-jcvi-advice/jcvi-advice-on-the-uk-vaccine-response-to-the-omicron-variant

Severely immunosuppressed individuals who have completed their primary course (3 doses) should be offered a booster dose with a minimum of 3 months between the third primary and booster dose. Those who have not yet received their third dose may be given the third dose now to avoid further delay. A further booster dose can be given in 3 months, in line with the clinical advice on optimal timing.

CorrBlimeyGG · 30/11/2021 18:09

Sajid Javid said there was no need for extra measures because they have a big stock of anti virals for if you fall ill. He fails to understand that, even if the anti virals reduce your immediate risk of death, the harm in allowing you to become very unwell will already have done lasting damage to an already weakened body.

So yes, thrown under a bus. Just a slightly longer bus than before.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 30/11/2021 18:13

Yes, it was always clear that 4 doses were in line for the immunosuppressed. How that was going to work in practice was a lot less clear.

“Most individuals whose immunosuppression commenced at least 2 weeks after the second dose of vaccination do not require a third primary dose at this stage. Alongside those with lower levels of immunosuppression, they are likely to become eligible for a booster dose as part of a routine booster programme from around 6 months after the second dose, pending further advice.

It is expected that severely immunosuppressed inviduals will become eligible for a booster dose as part of a routine booster programme from around 6 months after their third primary dose, pending further advice.”

Emphasis mine. That’s from the Sept 1st JCVI guidance. That does not say a booster WILL be offered, it says expected. So it’s 4 doses for the severely immunocompromised after yesterday’s announcements.

nether · 30/11/2021 19:28

There was further clarification at the start of November (published by NHS England). Booster after primary course (whether that was two or three primary doses)

There had been considerable ressure from charities (especially those concerned with blood cancers and transplant recipients) to get that clarification.

It wouid have been a disastrously wrong policy otherwise. The CEV were all vaccinated good and early, and some found themselves in the position of having to wait beyond the date they became 6month qualified for the regular booster in order to have a third primary. That just about makes sense when in conjunction with the NHS England clarification, as a gateway to 6month booster eligibility (ie 4th jab). It is just plain wrong otherwise

nether · 30/11/2021 19:53

What appears to have changed in the time lines.

Third primaries were meant to be booked and underway by 11 Sept. There had to be a second instruction with anew deadline of 9 Oct - also widely missed, but many third primaries were done by the end of October. Boosters therefore falling due in April.

I thought that was heralding a cycle whereby the most critically vulnerable (I have one in my household) get 6 monthly boosters in spring and autumn whereas the general population were being done after 6 -ish months, gradually moving to annual autumn shot a la flu

That no longer seems to be the case, as boosters for the 500,000 will be at the 3 month point (so should have been starting December if original deadline had been met - in practice will be mid/late Jan)

Will they have enough gumption to plan ahead for what vaccination regime there should be for critically vulnerable, and for other groups, looking beyond January?

And will they be able to prevent the omnishambles of the third primary rollout from ever happening again?

RachC2021 · 01/12/2021 13:38

@nether

Thank you. I missed the early November clarification.

I had my third primary dose exactly six months after my second. I’m actually in the more unusual position of meeting the criteria for a third primary dose but not being immunocompromised any more. I’m under 50 so didn’t initially qualify for a booster.

Despite my being aware since September 1st that I qualified for the third primary it still took six weeks to actually get a letter to prove it. The whole thing was an absolute shitshow for so many people. My records still show I had a booster and not a third primary. When they get updated is anyone’s guess.

Rade · 01/12/2021 13:40

I don't think there is a change.
I was told by my GP surgery when I had my 3rd primary dose that they would call me back for a booster in 6 months.

Slowfoxfast · 01/12/2021 15:00

My GP, who runs the GP led vaccination centre, told me yesterday that the 4th dose will be given 3 months after the 3rd. That is new guidance.

Also, he clarified that the Pfizer booster is the same dose as a 3rd primary dose. So if you had a Pfizer booster, you've had your 3rd dose. Other vaccines may vary. He also agreed that the messaging around this was a mess and confusing.

Yes, I made sure I had Pfizer as I knew Moderna was only a half dose for a booster. The vaccinator confirmed it was being logged as a third primary, but the paperwork he sent my GP still says booster. I’m not going to worry about it too much until January, when I should actually be due a booster.
