Anyone else had their last vaccine 6+ months ago but not currently eligible?

Trying not to let my worries carry me away with all the news recently but it's not the easiest...

I had my 2nd dose of vaccine at the beginning of June, so we're almost at the 6 months bracket. I'm in my early 30s and the reason I had my first dose earlier is no longer valid, so I'm not eligible for the booster at the moment. I was trying not to get too worried about it previously (after all, there are definitely far more important priority groups who need it compared to me!) but recent news has made that more difficult. I've been struggling with postpartum anxiety (working on it with CBT and counselling at the moment) and had a panic attack yesterday worrying about how my immunity has probably waned a lot, so that is probably not helping me, obviously!

Anyone else in the same boat? Obviously the news all UK adults will get one is welcome but I'm not sure how that will realistically change anything in the short term?

From this, you are eligible, so should be able to book.

Booster vaccination eligibility should be expanded to include all adults aged 18 years to 39 years.

If you interested and worried you can pay a small amount to check you antibodies.

WyfOfBathe · 30/11/2021 13:00

Me too. My GP surgery had a surplus of vaccines at one point, so I (healthy, mid 30s) got called up at the same time that ages 50+ were being vaccinated.

It’s been more than 6 months since my second dose, but I still can’t book a booster. I was delighted at getting vaccinated early. Now I’m less happy about it, although I know I’m still very low risk.

Not yet implemented. Announced yesterday, booking site awaiting updating.

So OP is not yet eligible.

Blupblup · 30/11/2021 13:04

Well, sort of. But probably not in a way that will help you! I'm currently ineligible because I've just had covid. My second dose was also at the start of June so I was right at the point of being able to book a booster (I'm late 40s) when I got covid instead.
It's been pretty crap, I'm 2 weeks in and nowhere near back to normal. Unable to do anything much, completely exhausted. Not in any way life-threatening though.
My dh has also had it - same situation with boosters. There must be thousands of people in the same boat.

rainrainraincamedowndowndown · 30/11/2021 13:05

Oh, sorry, thanks.
Hopefully it goes ahead soon enough.

aksiej · 30/11/2021 13:11

I'm in exactly the same position, early 30s, second jab was in June. Had it early as went to a walk in 5 weeks after my first.

Look on the booking site, it clearly says you are eligible but it's not available yet. As usual the gov have announced something without the infrastructure being in place to suddenly cope with the excess demand, the NHS are trying to catch up. Just wait to be contacted or keep trying every few days.

This happened to DS2. He was frontline NHS and had 2nd dose in April but is now in another role.

The booking site only works for over 40s and clinically vulnerable. It doesn’t work for younger people vaccinated more than 6 months ago.
Skysblue · 30/11/2021 14:32

They’re updating the booking site. I imagine that the government changing policy every 5 minutes makes the technical IT side rather tricky!

I expect it will be sorted out soon and then you will be able to book a booster as they will now be given to anyone over 18 who is at least 3 months from second jab.

TheCategoryIs · 30/11/2021 14:44

I'm over 40 but it's showing as 6 months after second so agree they still need to update the booking system for age and time since last jab.

I had my second vaccine nearly 8 months ago and have medical conditions that caused me to be in the at risk group, however around 3 months ago I moved home and GP's which proved to be a nightmare, my new GP was useless and without telling me had decided to become an entirely online GP service, they also kept saying they couldn't fully sign me onto their services as they didn't have my medical record which was just ridiculous, I didn't find out about all of this until mid October when trying to request delayed repeat meds. I kept trying to go through the 119 service as advised only for them to be just as useless saying because I technically had no GP they couldn't help me and refused to give me a number for another department to talk to about my meds that I depend on. Luckily my previous GP has now agreed to keep me on as I only moved boroughs in London and has arranged for me to have my booster on Monday (they were horrified at how incompetent the other services were).

Cornettoninja · 02/12/2021 09:47

I would recommend anyone (now the ages have changed) who is six months or more over their second vaccination try their local walk in centre.

I had my second in April because I used to be NHS staff but wasn’t called till recently (with the over 40’s) and wanted my booster ASAP so just went to the walk in centre and waited about half an hour. I think it’s worth it if the gaps between are longer.

alexander2001 · 02/12/2021 10:33

I am registered with a GP, both mobile and email, i have never been asked to attend any vaccine clinic, despite them texting many others, seems a bit hit n miss.

Booked my Booster but the queue was a combined appoint and walk in, it was a 2hr wait, so i gave up and went back to work.

Wont bother now, it looks like Omicron is vaccine resistant in any case.

Same here DH is registered at the same surgery as me and has been invited for his booster tomorrow, he was also invited for the first 2, I wasn't and had to trek to vaccine centre 15 miles away, looks like the same is happening this time, fed up of it, I'm not going to the vaccine centre and will wait for something in my town as places are supposed to be popping up like Christmas trees, so Boris said
Kittypillar · 02/12/2021 17:23

I'm really tempted to try a walk-in clinic but have a horrible feeling I'll just get turned away because of my age. We live about a 90 minute round trip from the nearest one too so not the easiest to manage unfortunately.

I know that, statistically speaking, my risk to Covid is hopefully low and there are certainly more at risk people who take higher priority. But I do feel upset to be in this situation, almost to the point where I feel regret to have had my vaccine when I did (even though it was important at the time that I did). I just feel helpless and can't help feeling anxious that people are now technically going to be eligible from 3 months post vaccine and here I am, 6 months post vaccine, not able to get jabbed Sad

This happened to me. I got vaccinated by end of April. Have been desperate to have my booster but didn't qualify until last week. Sadly I have now caught Covid. Couldn't believe it! Fortunately it hasn't been more than a bad cold so far (day 5) and I'm feeling mostly over it.

What I find interesting is that youngest dc (11-no vaccine) has tested +ve but older dc (15-vaccinated on Oct) and DP (second jab in Sept) are consistently showing -ve

Makes me think the vaccines really are bloody worth having!

Now I'm not sure when to have my booster. It is booked for 12th but is that too early after having COVID? Should I change the booking?
