How likely is it that I have COVID if I have negative LFT but feeling exhausted and achey?

DH tested positive a few days ago. He'd been feeling exhausted for a few days before that but no other symptoms so hadn't thought to test, but I imagine he would have been positive if he'd tested earlier.

My PCR was negative and I've taken some LFTs since which were also negative. Since this afternoon I've just felt really fatigued, and my whole body aches. My skin feels really dry and tight and sore all over my body. I've taken another LFT which is negative. I don't have any of the classic symptoms, but considering that I was in close contact with DH when he probably had it and didn't know, surely it's quite likely I have it too??? But do I get another PCR when I don't have any of the classic symptoms? Or just do another LFT in the morning?

Get another PCR- fatigue and body aches are symptoms (among many others) of covid, despite the gov website still having the main three outdated symptoms on there

Deffo a PCR. I’m not one usually say you should test for every little symptom, I don’t think you should but you have a positive husband & you are not feeling great. In these circumstances, you should. There’s every chance you’ve caught it a few days later. Particularly feeling exhausted & achy. These were my main symptoms for the first two days. Get another PCR for sure. LF’s are hit & miss..

Get another PCR OP. DD had 4 negative LFTs followed by a positive PCR

DH's lateral flow came up with a strong positive really quickly but there's no hint of a line on mine. Think I'm going to get into bed and if I feel the same in the morning I'll go for another PCR. Part of me wonders if it could be the stress of everything catching up with me.

I've got a sore throat and cough and am waiting on pcr results... my lfts have been negative and I'm sure it's a cold (no positives in the house) but I think it's always best to check with a pcr if in doubt!

Annoying cause I'm missing work when I'd normally probably power through but I think people doing that may be a thing if the past too no one wants anyone ill around which I get

Blossomandbee · 29/11/2021 21:38

Lateral flow tests aren't reliable, especially if you have symptoms. As you're in close contact with someone who's positive you would be fully justified in getting another pcr test

My son did lateral flows with very mild symptoms. All negative. The PCR was positive - we amused ourselves no end testing him via lateral flow every few days during the isolation period and they were all negative.

Lateral flow is still negative this morning but I'm not feeling any better, booked in for PCR today, although I have a feeling it will be negative too and that I'm just feeling under the weather.

DH consistently tested negative on LFT's even when the rest of the house was positive and he had symptoms. PCR was positive.

Umbongoumbongo999 · 30/11/2021 08:05

Yep, PCR required. My dh was positive and I had one negative PCR and three negative LFTs. On the fourth day I booked a second PCR which came back positive

confusedlots · 30/11/2021 21:41

Well the PCR came back negative. I'm still feeling a bit off but definitely better than yesterday. I've got to do another PCR on Day 8 so will see how that goes. Strangely, my face is really red and sore 🤷‍♀️

I hope you feel better soon. We had a similar thing in our house. DD14 tested positive on lateral flow then PCR. Our PCRs were neg. I felt ill a few days later. Negative PCR again. I isolated anyway as I work from home. Don't THINK it was COVID but it was a strange coincidence.

Delatron · 30/11/2021 22:25

I wonder if you get exposed to the virus and then your body fights it off? So antibodies/vaccine kicks in. This makes you a bit tired but you don’t actually become ill and test positive.

I say this because I had an asymptomatic child and for a few days I felt tired and ‘off’ Did PCR and LFT every day all negative then felt absolutely fine after two days.

confusedlots · 30/11/2021 22:39

@Delatron that would make sense. I've already had my booster because of my job so hopefully have got good immunity. I just hope if that theory is right, that there's little chance I could pass it on as the virus hadn't had a chance to take hold in me 🤞
