Antibody levels - from vaccine

Locoooomotive · 28/11/2021 20:59

I have recently done an antibody test as I will be due my booster quite soon and was interested in knowing my current levels before I go for it in January.

I have had Covid (March 2020), and had long Covid for many months. I have then had 1 Pfizer dose in June and another one in early August.

Just before I went for my second dose my antibody levels were 70 U/ml. Now they are 1650 u/ml nearly 4 months on from the 2nd dose. I assume this is relatively high but would like to know how it compares to others if you know your levels? I know it is likely to start decreasing over the next few months but hopefully I will stay somewhat protected until my booster (which is what I was worried about).

I'm aware that nobody really seems to know what the levels equate to in terms of protection but just interested to know what others are experiencing and / or if people have known their level but then still got infected / reinfected?

5 weeks after my second AZ my levels were 500 and 5 months after my second az my levels were 180. I have had covid in the house at 5.5 month post AZ and not caught it

Rade · 28/11/2021 21:35

The scale only goes up to 2500.
At 5 months after 2nd AZ DH was at 2100, he's never had covid and is 72.
At 5 months after my 2nd AZ and a month after covid mine was at >2500.
Interestingly DH didn’t catch covid from me despite close contact.

Thanks, this is very interesting!

Yes, should have said the scale goes up to 2500 for the test I have done too.

Also should say I no longer have natural antibodies although wasn't expecting to so far on. But I know some people do!

Mine were tested 4 months after my 2nd jab. I'm immunosuppressed and my result was
24

@pastmybestbeforedate - I hope you are offered the booster soon if not already!

Mine was 29 at about the same time after second dose. After my booster I was 2400. I’m on biologics for auto immune disease. I think I’ll do another test in a month.

I am also immunosuppressed and was hospitalised with covid 4 months after my second jab. As I posted earlier I went on to have 3rd primary dose and my antibodies are now through the roof. Get your booster / 3 rd dose asap @PastMyBestBeforeDate
HerRoyalNotness · 30/11/2021 13:20

3 moths after second I was 2236. I have autoimmune conditions. I had my booster last Monday and got tested for antibodies yesterday. (I’m taking part in a study). Not sure that’s enough time after booster to make a difference, should get results in a few days

Palavah · 30/11/2021 13:23

How did you find out your number?

sweetpaws · 30/11/2021 13:24

Where are you getting these antibody tests that give you an actual level?

We did the government antibody tests and the results just say 'thank you for doing a covid antibody test, antibodies were found in your blood sample, this means it’s likely you’ve had COVID-19 in the last 6 months'

You have to buy them privately. Mine were 1000 eight months after second Pfizer dose.
OriginalM · 30/11/2021 13:34

Pls could you post a link as I'd be interested in knowing thank you

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 30/11/2021 13:39

My booster has already happened but sadly will have been wiped out by my latest round of treatment. I'm having my third primary (4th jab) as soon as I can but it won't be until the Spring :(

I bought my test through ZoomDoc.

JS87 · 30/11/2021 14:26

I bought mine from Lloyds online pharmacy.

TulipsGarden · 30/11/2021 14:36

This is a really interesting thread!

Are the tests difficult to do? I read that you have to get quite a lot of blood for the government ones, which I can't bring myself to do as a have a phobia of large amounts of (my) blood. I'd be fine with a pinprick though?

Locoooomotive · 30/11/2021 14:37

The test I got was from Monitor My Health.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 30/11/2021 14:40

It was more than a pin prick Tulip. I suspect the private ones are the same as the government ones.

JS87 · 30/11/2021 14:48

You do prick you finger to do them but you have to get 600ul of blood. Depending on how easily you bleed you might have to do several fingers and it’s quite messy so might not be a good idea for you.

TulipsGarden · 30/11/2021 15:56

Thank you @PastMyBestBeforeDate and @JS87, that doesn't sound like something I could manage. Blerg. Shame as I'd love to know!
