What sats level is worrying?

I’m day 3 since covid symptoms started, feeling pretty rough. I have health problems so keeping a vague eye on sats levels, seem to be between 93% and 95% which is ok I think.

What’s a concerning level/ level I need to contact GP/111 on? Thanks 😊

This says below 95, so I’d contact 119 or GP?

Check it after you’ve moved about, not just resting.

Finknottlesnewt · 26/11/2021 12:43

I am on day 14 and mine are now up to 95%. My GP has asked me to take three readings a day and send them in. She also said that at 92% I would need to be admitted. I have managed to keep it between 93%-95% for the last 2weeks... definitely gives you brain fog though !

Bobholll · 26/11/2021 20:12

I was told under 94% and they’d have some concerns. Not necessarily get to hospital but they may prescribe steroids to see if that helps a bit.. 92% would be admission. But different people react differently to lower than usual oxygen. If you feel you are struggling, always best to check. I have asthma & im used to my levels being on the low side during a flare. But most people aren’t & I can see it would be worrying!

Are you Asian? Or Black ?

Are your oxygen levels usually low with your other conditions? If they are usually normal our GP advised 93/94% phone 111. 92% or lower requires admission.

Covidgotme · 26/11/2021 22:10

My doctor said anything under 93 and he needs to be told.
I’m on day 6 and on day 4&5 it went between 87 and 100. When it went lower it did only take a few minutes to come back up.
Today it’s been between 91 and 100. I’ve been given steroids to use only If my asthma gets bad so haven’t used them yet.

My DP was at 84 when I finally dragged him to A and E .
I had no idea if I would see him again when I dropped him off -it was horrible .
He survived ....just .If in doubt /go to hospital please x

Sorry, I went to sleep. I’m sleeping very odd times! I called the GP, he is concerned and wanted me to go to a&e. I agreed I would monitor and go to a&e if it goes under 90 and stays there for more than a few minutes. I have had lots of bad experiences in a&e with my health problems and it usually results in my back going into spasm and me being worse due to the sitting on terrible chairs and being spoken to like an errant stupid child.

I feel ok breath wise, little short of breath when moving around. I’ve kept checking it, and it seems to be hovering around 94/95. If I feel it’s getting worse or keeps dropping then I will go to a&e.

To the PP who asked, I’m white british but I am overweight with various health problems (Eds, Chiari malformation, a currently undiagnosed neurological condition, degenerative disc disease).

How are you feeling now OP?

PolytheneRam · 01/12/2021 11:26

Ordinarily you'd want your sats to be between 94-98% but with Covid it's expected to between 92 and 94%

It's advised that you lie on your side, or, if you can tolerate it, prone (on your front). This should increase your oxygen levels.

Always err on the side of caution If you have health problems. You can still need medical attention even with normal sats. It’s only part of the whole picture.

EgonSpengler2020 · 01/12/2021 11:38

Take the highest reading for any period of time (sats probes frequently read low but not falsely high), so your sats are 95%.

Risks factors are in the attached table...
