Anyone with similar issues found a way to have a booster? I’m booked tomorrow but the venue is really busy and I simply won’t get through the door. There aren’t many options here (Warwickshire). Do drs do them in this sort of scenario?

I think maybe phone your gps and ask? Every gp is different, th quickest and simplest way to get an answer is to phone and explain about your mental health problems and see if you can get done by a doctor. Good luck.

If you have booked you may find you don't need to queue so you can keep away from most people?

The queues in our local centres are for those who are using it as a walk-in. Those who've booked ahead get priority.

Scutterbug · 23/11/2021 11:38

No my husband had booked and there was still a queue.

Do you have any smaller pharmacies locally doing covid vaccines? Our neighbour's DH is physically disabled and has dementia. She had support to get him out to our main hub for first two vaccines, but mentioned to our local pharmacy (where she had her booster) she was concerned her DH hadn't had his booster or flu vaccines. She was told if she could get him in the car and find a parking space very close, they'd vaccinate him. They came out and did it through the window. Just wondering if this might be worth exploring.

Would it help you to look at going to an alternative venue? I got mine done at Boots and there was no queue at all. I went up to a desk, told them my details and then was sent straight to a little private booth

Scutterbug · 23/11/2021 12:59

I’ve called my local surgery and they are calling me back. A drive through would be my dream but there are none round here. Do all boots/ pharmacies offer them then? They weren’t on the list for drop in centres that I found in my area.

Where I went on Friday they were mainly for bookings and only doing 11 am till 3 pm. If you go towards the end of the session there shouldn’t be many there.

jendifer · 23/11/2021 13:56

I’m also in Warwickshire and found mine to be quiet, quick and really well organised. Let me know if you want me to share its location and you could go there?

Cookerhood · 23/11/2021 14:19

No not all Boots & pharmacies are doing them. Our local walk in is quietest between about 3&4pm.

You could phone the vac centre and explain? They may be able to make it easier for you.

spiderlight · 23/11/2021 15:45

The centre let my DH come in and wait with me. I wouldn't have managed it otherwise.

SparklingLime · 23/11/2021 16:33

That’s good news, @Scutterbug.

My husband came with me too for my first ones but there wasn’t a queue. It’s the queue I can’t manage even with somebody. I feel like such a prat.

When my DS got his jab there was a huge queue. I went to the front of it with him and said "he is autistic and can't manage this queue" and they took him in straight away.
Any reason why you or DH couldn't do the same?

Yes that’s possible if they would allow it but my husband said you have to queue, check in, then queue again for the jab. So I would struggle with the check in bit with people in front and behind me.
