Isolate or not?

I'm currently having a bit of a debate with my employer.

My daughter is PCR positive. We received a call from track and trace who told us that the adults in the house needed to take a PCR, so we booked one. Neither of us have symptoms. We were under the impression that being double jabbed, we did not have to self isolate. Track and trace did not explicitly tell us we had to self isolate.

Both of our employers have now sent us home - one because they are being cautious, which is fine, but the other are saying that if you have a PCR, you then must isolate until you get your result, no matter what.

Can anyone tell me who is right, us or them? Thankyou!

You don’t have to isolate whilst waiting for results if you don’t have symptoms.
As a close contact you don’t have to isolate if you are double vaccinated 14 days+ to contact with a vaccine administered in the UK.

That's what I thought. I'm quite annoyed that we're going to lose money over this because my husband's employers don't understand the rules. grrr.

You don't need to isolate whilst waiting for results unless you have symptoms. We have Covid in the house but dh hasn't. He was told to do a pcr on day 2 and day 8. He has not symptoms and has gone to work as normal. Do you get paid leave?

Inquisitivearchitect · 23/11/2021 12:51

In our office if you have a positive Covid case in your household then we aren’t allowed to go in the office. It’s not the government guidelines - it’s the company keeping a potential Covid outbreak to a minimum.

It’s all so confusing! Different opinions and policies floating about.

I think that's different in Scotland

It depends on your country. In Wales we have to self isolate while waiting for PCR results if someone in the household tests positive/ you are a close contact of a positive case. So in your situation, everyone in your household would have to get a pcr and then self isolate till the results came through.

I’m in the situation now . I’m Covid positive, my son who works with me isn’t allowed back to work until my 10 days is up despite having a negative test.it’s the company policy apparently

Nellodee · 23/11/2021 13:00

I’m in England. I’ll get paid, but my husband won’t, I don’t think, as they require the letter from the track and trace, and the options are, you’ve tested positive, or you’re a contact who isn’t double jabbed, or you’ve been told to self isolate - none of which are the case.

Yes, Scottish rules different, you have to isolate until you get a negative PCR, then can stop isolation if fully vaccinated or under 18.

Nellodee · 23/11/2021 13:02

We might just go for the “we’ve been told to self isolate” option when we try to print the letter. It’s hardly as though his company can complain- after all, they’re the ones that told him to self isolate!

Depends where you live If in Scotland you do need to isolate while waiting for PCR results
