2 positive LF’s 2 negative PCR’s

I’m really confused now. What do I do? Dd has had two positive lateral flow tests and two negative PCR results this weekend. She isn’t well, has a cough and a sore throat. Send her to school as soon as she feels well enough which could be a few days or keep her home anyway and probably get into trouble by the school?

"When the researchers used a new formula for calculating the rapid test's accuracy, they found LFTs were more than 80% effective at detecting any level of Covid-19 infection and likely to be more than 90% effective at detecting who is most infectious when they use the test.

This is much higher than previously thought, they say.

Prof Michael Mina, from Harvard School of Public Health, also part of the research team, said the LFTs could "catch nearly everyone who is currently a serious risk to public health" when viral loads are at their peak."

"The current government guidance saysthat if you receive a negative follow-up PCR test result, and this PCR test was taken within two days of the positive LFT, you will be told by NHS Test and Trace that you can stop self-isolating.

However, it states that you must continue to self-isolate if the PCR result is positive, you choose not to take a follow-up PCR or the test was taken more than two days after the positive LFT"

ie trust lfts, but not over and above pcr

Yep @BlackInk just googled and it was a research group confirming the accuracy of lfts but not saying to ignore pcrs.

Just to confuse things further, dd did another LF today and it's negative. She also seems a bit better than she was yesterday. The school don't really know what to do either. For the two positive ones, they were brand new boxes and two different batches.
We are in the south west where the lab messed up. This has resulted in a lot of cases in our area and the school being full of covid now.
It makes me wonder if we can even trust the PCR results. However the second test was sent to a lab miles away in the south east. Not sure why but they were telling everyone this at the testing centre.
Maybe something strange is going on with the lab tests.

Ah! This explains what happened to me as well!
While my son and my husband had a positive PCR, I had an inconclusive and a negative. All had symptoms.
I took a LF few days later and it was very positive. Then I took another two PCRs and they were again one inconclusive and one negative.
How likely it is that I didn't have Covid, in a house full of confirmed Covid, with all the symptoms and a positive lateral flow?
I live in Surrey.

I'm starting to wonder if the LF's are more reliable than the PCR's now. Especially after reading that above. Maybe I tested too late and just caught the end of it
