Cough - when is the pain muscular or lung?

I've had a cough for five weeks now. I have no been given an inhaler and have a chest x-ray this week. However, when I take a deep break or have a bad coughing fit, I get a pain in the right side of my upper back, below my shoulder. I don't know how you tell if it's muscular or if it's lung pain. When I saw the gp this week I was laid back by the cough assuming it was just post viral, but now the inhaler isn't working and the cough is so bad I may as well not have a pelvic floor, I'm beginning to wonder if I should be more concerned. I can't really do much else until the chest X ray. I'm just curious really.

What type of inhaler have you been given, a blue one just relieves symptoms, but a brown one is a steriod inhaler which will hopefully open up your tubes and lungs and will take a few days to work.

Does it hurt when you push on the area that is painful? Often muscle problems are felt as tender patches under the skin.

I had this when I had a chest infection.

I've been given an inhaler called soprobec. I'm afraid I don't know much about it. Probably should look it up.

That is a steroid inhaler, so that’s good, hopefully you should begin to feel better in a few days, may make to feel a bit dizzy until you get used to it.
